Drilled 30x3.5"x60. Hole on VAL 1.75" down the VAL. This ball is amazing!! Superior performance in the mid-price point!! Great value!! Proven Mission core and stronger pearl cover gives me easy length and remarkable back end motion. This ball with the out of box surface handled the heavy 43' house pattern I see regularly with ease. At this price point, the Source will be a huge hit!! This ball carries VERY well, as expected with that Mission core. If you haven't tried Ebonite in a while, this would be a product to look at. It is Amazing!!

drilled a 45x5x60 pin under the bridge. This ball rolls a lot like the red mission but a lot cleaner thru the front of the lane with a more angular and more continuous motion. I have used it on both house and tournament patterns plays great.

I drilled my staff ball 50 x 5 1/4 x 30 and left it at box surface. This ball is very strong off the end of the pattern! If you need a ball to flip hard, grab this ball, but make sure you have friction down lane. This ball needs it in order to work properly at box finish. Its very good at going straight up the lane but it needs some burn in order to open the lane up. I really like this ball to start the block and finish the block off because it allows me to follow the transition in and keep going through the pins. Ebonite has two very very good balls on its hands with the last two releases and and more to come! Ebonite's coming back with a vengeance, keep an eye on us

The Source might be the best ball for league conditions I have ever tried.  I used an unusual drilling, especially for someone with my style, but I tried this on a Challenge and was very pleased with the results, so I took a shot.  The pin is about 5 and 5/8 inches above the center line of my grip.  The CG is about 1 and ¼ inches to the right of the ring finger and the mass bias is an inch above my thumb hole at about a 2 o’clock position.  There is also a weight hole about 3 inches further past the pin.  I know this might sound crazy, but this ball strikes like crazy in league.  I shot a 300 the second week with carry that bordered on amazing.  If you are limited to one new ball for this league season, the Source just might be the one for you.  I highly recommend that you get to an EBI Demo Days at a center near you to try this ball.

Ebonite Source


What a great new addition to the Ebonite line. This ball will really compliment the champion. The source is cleaner and smoother than the champion and is more of a revving arc. The Source rolled really well on both a house pattern and tournament pattern. What I probably liked most about this ball is its predictability and even though its a pearl it still handles the carry-down better than expected.  This would make a good benchmark ball in anyone's arsenal.

In a word...awesome!!!

I find the Source to be extremely versatile, clean through the front and then extremely continuous on the back and this is why it is ALWAYS with me and in the bag!

Mine is drilled pin up, the pin is about 1.5 inches above my bridge with the mass bias at 65 degrees - pretty standard layout. Out of the box, it was a little TOO clean for me so I adjusted the surface and found it best at 2000 abralon with factory finish polish. How I got there on the spinner:
1) 500 abralon pad, lots of water
2) 2000 abralon pad WITH a little polish ON THE PAD, with moderate water

For me the 500 gives some traction under the surface and controls the move off the spot but the 2000 and polish still allows me to maintain the clean reaction and energy retention through the front part of the lane.

In short - if you are looking for a new ball this season, this is the one!!!

Hello everyone,

Visually, I was excited about the Source. It's simple and very Gamebreaker-esque. It doesn't draw much attention on the rack like some other balls out there, but many people in the DFW area are talking about it after they've seen it on the lane or thrown it themselves.

My go-to pearl for a long time has been the Innovate, but that ball excels for me more when I have to move right (I am left-handed) and generate a little more arc. The Source allows me to play a little straighter.

We drilled this one 70 x 4.5 x 40 with no extra hole. Out of the box, it definitely made it down the lane and was very angular on the backend. As with other balls that come with the Factory Finish, I needed to make some adjustments and break the polish before it fit my game, since the reaction was inconsistent. I generally throw the ball pretty hard.

Initially, I hit the cover with 4000 Abralon just to break the shine a little. The length still was good, but the backend reaction was a little smoother and more predictable. I liked what I saw, but tried some other things.

My second experiment was with 3000 Abralon. This took away some of the skid in the front and tamed the backend some more, but I felt like it was taking away from the benefits of the pearl cover.

Finally, I decided on 1000 Abralon with some water, followed by some Magic Shine on top. The ball made it through the heads nicely, as it did right out of the box, but the little bit of extra traction under the polish was nice, especially with my higher ball speed. Putting some of the shine back on it was great on the downlane friction.

With a little less skid in the front, and good angle on the back, this ball fits nicely into the arsenal. If I want to stay left, but need a more length than I'd get with the Champion, the Source it the right choice.

This year, my focus has been on experimenting more with cover changes as well as trying to build a complete five-ball arsenal with balls and drillings that clearly complement each other and make the decisions much easier during competition. I definitely feel like the current Ebonite product line, along with a knowledgeable ball driller, have made this happen.

If you're looking for some length in your game and unmatched angle down the lane, the Source is the right choice.
