The most amazing thing about the Stinger 2 Piece is it's price.  For a ball that reacts as well as many top-of-the-line balls, it's priced near the bottom of the scale.  Don't be fooled by the price though, I was also amazed by this ball's results.  I'm right handed, and I drilled mine with the pin over the bridge and the CG kicked out to the right of my midline.  This layout should produce plenty of length and a good break on the backend.  I tried out the ball at a house that didn't have much oil at the time, I had to play fifth arrow to somewhere around 10 at 40 feet.  Just as advertised, the ball sailed nicely through the first 30 feet and made a sharp turn for the 1-3.  With an angle like that, carry was no problem.  This will be a great ball on most house conditions or wherever there's medium volumes.  I am very impressed with this ball and I give it an 8 on a scale from 1 to 10.  It cannot be beat for the price!

Thank You to Brian Pursel from Ebonite for his knowledge and continued support. I was looking for a reactive for drier lanes, one that did not hook off the lane when it comes in contact with some dry boards but still had the hit I needed. This ball is one of a few good choices for medium to dry lanes. It seems that Ball Companies lately have been putting alot of effort into Hooking Monster's and this ball is quite refreshing and a little different from the Big Hookers. This polished reactive is a Blue/Red pretty ball. I drilled this ball Pin 5 1/2 from the P.A.P. and swung the Mass Bias at a 55 degree angle. This ball gives nice length on oil and a strong arc on dry. I would say this ball hooks about 5-7 boards less than a polished Pantera and backends smoother for predictability. The core is this ball reminds me of the Columbia PowerTorq, more of a football shape with flip block on the top and bottom. This will definately be a ball I will show in my shop for Bowlers that either remember the Columbia Power Torq or are looking foro a wonderful Reactive for Medium to Dry lanes. Thank you Ebonite for producing a great "Low Priced" ball for the drier lanes out there. Thank you for reading this Review, and have a great day, Dwight.

Well, I drilled this ball up a couple of weeks ago, and haven't thrown it that much up until last night.

The layout on this ball was the pin above my fingers on the grip line and the CG swung out a 1/2" on the negative side.  I used this layout for extreme dry and to give me a lot of control.

I started the night with the X-Calibur Legend, and had a great shot, but going into the 3rd game, the lanes started to burn and I was getting too much reaction out of the X-Calibur.  I went to the Stinger 2-piece, and moved back to my original starting position for the night, and threw the front 5.  I was able to lay the ball down in the dry and still get the ball down the lane, with the controlled reaction that I was looking for when it made the move.

I didn't have to worry about the hard drive to the pocket with this layout.

On a scale of 1-10, I would give this ball a 6.  Why so low? Because with the way I drilled the ball, it will only be usable for extreme dry and spare shooting.  I think this would be a great dry lane ball with any drilling.  The strength of this ball is clearing the head, even when they dry up.  Weakness would be that it will be oil sensitive, and will need dry to get a reaction.

If you have any questions, please email me at Bill@buddiesproshop.com.

Thanks

Bill

Drilled for right-handed tweener, good ball speed.

Specs:
2 1/2 TW
3" pin
Surface, 1000 grit shine
Drilled 5 X 5 (pin over the bridge)

Customer was looking for something with some recovery when the heads went away.  Wanted something where he could play in deep and still get the ball to turn the corner.  Given the high RG and strong core of the Stinger, we decided to put some holes in it and see what happens.

Er, um, this ball can turn a corner.  Following a league session, our tester played around 15 swinging the ditch with his Tidal Wave Wipeout (label leverage)with some success.  He was getting a decent reaction, but a bit flat from the earlier hook.  He then pulled the Stinger out and instantly got 2 more feet and a much sharper reaction.  In fact, a jump 5 boards right did nothing but give him a much bigger hook to the same place....the pocket.

The Stinger 2 piece stores energy as well as any ball I've seen.  I like the solid cover as it gives a bit more versatility, yet can still clear the heads with some polish.  After seeing this ball in action, I would call it a poor man's Trauma.  Not quite the backends, but close.  Plus, you get more options with the solid cover.

drilled this ball this week
layout = 2 1/2 x 2/2
lane condition = THS(TYPICAL HOUSE SHOT)APP 38FT
first i think that the shell on this ball is exremely versatile.
started with box finish which made the ball cover as many boards as you
want and hit like a truck, then touched it up with some ebonite quicksand(that made the surface a little smoother) at that point the ball got through the heads easily and read the midlane very predictably, but my hope for this ball was to use it as the lane started to burn up so back to the shop for a little of ebonite's factory finish polish. success, as the more aggressive balls start up a little too soon this ball got through the front and stored plenty of energy to throw the pins around a perfect choice to complete your arsenal.

I was using an original Danger Zone sanded for an oil ball, and then it started to crack. So I needed a new ball. Saw the Stinger was under $120 so I decided why not, boy did I get a winner. Drilled it stacked leverage and have it at a 800 surface. Good on oil and will still carry great when moving inside. I can play straight up 10 and carry and after leagues swing 20-25 and still get that great carry. I would reccomend this ball to anyone especially those with a low budget.

Stinger 2 Piece solid by Ebonite is another good strong/versatile resin ball, but with an entry level price.  I have a Stinger 2 Piece with a 5x4 layout pin high with a hole in PAP. My positive axis point is 5 1/4 by 3/8 up. I have a Vortex 2 with same layout and in comparison the Stinger skids a bit cleaner through the front part of lane and doesn't roll quite as heavy in midlane as the Vortex 2.  The overall amount of hook is maybe 3 or 4 boards less with Stinger 2 Piece for myself. I found The Stinger 2 Piece to play better when the lanes are hooking a bit than on heavy oil for myself when compared to Ebonite's versatile benchmark Vortex 2. However with the much lower price the Stinger 2 Piece solid could be quite a bargain for some of those who would like to get stronger ball reaction for a relatively low price and the Stinger 2 Piece is as versatile a ball as one can drill for a low/mid price range.

although i don't own this ball, i wish i did. at the bowling lane in my town, they did have them in stock, but by the time i got the money, they were gone. but my friend owns a pearl 2-piece, and i used that a lot. this is the greatest ball for a beginner. nice hook on any condition lane and easy control.

I drilled the stinger 2 piece sanded, label with pin at 3 inches, and CG shifted 1/2 inch off center of grip. In the box condition the ball hooked too much going down the lane and didn't recover good enough when I opened the lane. This would because of the label drill. So I polished the ball and was surprised on how well it plays the dry lane. I feel this is a great entry level ball or a condition specific ball. What condition would depend on your hand, the ball layout and the surface. For me it's a good second block ball or a great ball to use on guardian with a short pattern.

This is another top notch product from Ebonite. I bought this ball for dry lanes. I drilled it up with the pin above the fingers at 12:00 and the cg in the center of my grip. This ball on the driest of lanes got down the lane and had a nice, smooth, predictable finish. This is a definite must have in your bag.

This is a great ball for dryer conditions and lateblocks.I won't go to
a tournament with out it.It just clears the heads so easy and it's still
not really flippy,it has a very strong backend but it still has a semi
arc to it.Very good ball.I think everybody needs a ball like this stinger 2 pearl.

Very good tournament ball.  I usually polish the surface of this ball.
My pin is below the fingers and the CG is slightly negative.  This ball gets
good length and easy to adjust to the conditions.  Does not over react.
Overall this is a good piece to have in your bag.  Ebonite is putting
some good product out consistently.

I drilled up the new stinger 2 piece low flare. This is a good ball for dry lanes or people with alot of revs.I used it at a foundation games tourney on the very short pattern and could get it down the lane without too much trouble. This may end up being a good ball for league play if your typical lane cond. are dry.I drilled mine with the pin over the bridge,cg swung out a little.

this stinger 2 piece low flare is great. it works excellent on fried lanes and light oil.it arcs real nice not a big move like most pearls have. this is a must have for tournament bowlers.its a ball that actually does what they say it will do.iam able to use it in the 3rd game of leauge play with some carry down and it didnt affect the hard arc to the pocket i say this is a 9 out of 10.way to go ebonite.

Drilled with the pin over the ring finger, cg in the palm, no extra hole.  Polished the cover with Factory Finish to get some length on drier conditions.  This is another very versatile ball from Ebonite.  The cover is fully adjustable depending on your needs and the hit is excellent.  I tend to use this when my Vortex 2 is burning up a little early.  The higher rg core and polished cover gets it down the lane with a nice hard arc to the pocket.  For the money, you will not find a better all-purpose ball.

This review is on the 2 piece pearl. Pin is just uner ring finger and cg just off palm. 16-17 mph ball speed andslightly above avg revs. The ball gives a great mid lane read and a nice HARD arc to the pocket. I use this as my "goto" ball for most conditions in my area. I've had the ball for4 weeks now and have shot between 670 and 730 with it in all my leagues(avg 215). Only problem I've found is the ball does not like carry down. If I have some back ends theball hits like a truck and scores well. Very controllable. 9.5 out of 10

PART #1 - SOLID

this is a good ball. used it dull first and got a smooth earlier roll.
even worked on some oil. tried it on wood an synthetic and got excellent reaction and hit on both.
polsihed a bit(around 1000) and it got up the lanes better, but still hooked.
still works on oil, but you have to be careful not to over throw it.
has more backend polished than dull with same results on the score sheet.

excellent control ball on most conditions. havent used it on a tournament shot yet.
i rate this ball a 9 of 10(especially for the price)!!!!

drilled it close to 3 3/8 leverage

dont let this ball fool you.. its an aggressive ball. more than i anticipated

PART #2 - PEARL

drilled this ball to compliment my solid.
pinned it in the bridge with the cg kicked out under the ring finger

boy did this ball work wonders on a drier condition.
gets excellent length through the heads with smooth controllable backends.
left in out of box finish.
 hits a ton.
looking for a good drier lane ball, this is your answer. i can only imagine what it would have been like if i drilled more aggressively.

I got this ball free from my friend. I have this ball drilled for a lefty. PP about 1/2 inch under the ring finger and cg about an inch down. This ball is much better than I thought it would be. I first used it on my dad's desert dry house lanes and didn't to to well. The ball would come in way high and leave a lot of splits. I took it back to my synthetic house lanes for my thursday high school league and shot 231,205,and 226. I would recommend this ball for med oil. If you're looking for a late reactor for real dry lanes, go for the bvp punisher or the ice.
