RAID- RICO'D
« on: July 06, 2008, 05:56:58 AM »
I will be recieving the raid in a few days and was considering putting a rico drill on it. The time that i tried this ball out the coverstock seems strong enough , but I haven't tried tris drilling type b4 and wanted some feedback?

I've seen this drilling profiled over and over and ....frankly while I believe it of value for particular conditions....I don't believe it is a cure all.

Am I wrong?

My perception the drilling is great primarily for fresh with heavily oiled fronts and mids and jumpy powerful backs...

Correct?

I've never drilled one....and I've never seen one rolled.  BUT my perception is this is an early rolling moderately low flare setup.  Also not suitable at all
dryer fronts or mids.

PS I'm very familiar with many different revs leverage options and find the only difference to seemingly be the weaker flare position...of pin in center of grip.

BXTECH, your PAP is similar to mine.  That means your Rico drill reaction will be closer to mine than someone else who has a PAP closer to the grip center.  The low pin means the ball transitions from skid to hook to roll over a long period of time, but the pin being 5 inches plus away from the PAP gives it good length.  It's a lower flare layout to create good control and a very smooth but constant hook motion off the breakpoint.  I used it on an old Storm Eraser Banshee, a weaker pearl meant more for medium conditions, and it hooks a lot when it finds friction.  Because of the ball I used it on, it's a very condition-specific reaction for me, meant for use in tournaments where the backends are flying, but with a stronger ball I can see it being useful on a variety of conditions if you like that kind of ball motion.
