Adrenaline vs Addiction
« on: May 04, 2003, 08:40:59 PM »
Hey all! Just wondering if you
guys can tell me the big difference
between these two balls beisdes the
coverstock. I've seen both balls thrown
and thought they were both impressive.
Which do you like more?

The Addiction is supposed to be a very high load particle ball for heavy oil. The Adrenaline is a bit older than the Addiction & a bit lighter load of particles for less oil.

The Adrenaline was also Ebonite's attempt at making a particle with a more angular hook shape, whereas with the Addiction Ebonite made it to arc.

You can basically look at the Addiction as ebonite's 2nd try at the Aggression. The Aggression was supposed to be the ultra heavy oil companion to the Adrenaline. However, it had some issues that made it less than ideal for HEAVY oil & Ebonite still didn't have the oiler it was looking for. They took notes,  made changes & released the Addiction.

Bjaardker: Thanks for your response.
I'm still curious about the two. I have the original
Apex Particle Resin and it still works well. It
rols early and arcs. Just thiking if i should get the Adrenaline
since it will be more Angular instead of getting
the Addiction which arcs. I know all the Apex's are good for oily
lanes.

I want to be able to use these balls on a sport pattern too
like the ABC Nationals. Right now i'm really leaning towards the
Adrenaline. In Montana that ball seemed to work great. It goes long
and has great recovery especailly if you play deep. I haven't really seen the Addiction in action yet.

Is this a good choice?

If you've already got the original Apex & it's working for you on the heavier patterns then I would most certainly say that the Adrenaline would be the better choice of the 2 to expand your arsenal a bit.

However if you're seeing deep enough soup that you need an earlier roll & more grip than your Apex, you may consider the Addiction.

The reason I reccommend the Adrenaline is that it will be a good compliment to the Apex & be much more versatile than the Addiction. With the Adrenaline you will be able to cover a wide range of medium/heavier oils, and on a screaming backend pattern where the Apex might roll out, the Adrenaline should make a nice angular move.

Basically it will allow you to open up the lane in more situations than the Addiction will.

One thing, without an idea of how you throw, and what the rest of your arsenal is, I can't give definative suggestions. It would behoove you to put that info into your profile, as many people on here wont even answer people's queries if they dont have a profile.

Good luck!
BJE

That looks like a pretty complete arsenal. There would be entirely too much overlap with the VII particle to justify the purchase of the Adrenaline.

So unless you were planning on replacing the VII particle I would say go with the addiction, as it will be a nice heavy oil ball for you when the original apex isn't quite cutting it.

If i get the Adrenaline or Addiction
how should i drill it. My pearls are all
label drillings and my solids are rev leverage
except for the V2 Particle which is like a 4 x 2
with a hole. Would it be good to have any of these two ball on label
like a 4 x 4?

Unfortunatly that's really a question best answered by your Pro Shop.

I never give drilling reccomendations without actually seeing a person throw.

I'll see when the time comes. But yeah i'll
probably try out an Adrenaline or Addiction
one day. I heard they are going to start discontinuing the
ADRENALINE soon. Is that true?
