Am I the only one feeling this way?
« on: May 25, 2008, 11:28:54 AM »
I just gotta ask this, whats ebonite doing? I mean It seams ever since they bought out almost everybody they really have not come out with a ball that made you want to camp out at your proshop and be the first one to have the "IT" ball. But what they do is discontinue arguable the best line ever in the ONE series, a line that covered all lane con. The NV's are ok at best. The Game breaker is a good ball but, they just could have called it the TWO! Even Ebonite pro staffers Throw older stuff on tour this year! That rite there has got to tell you something! I absolutely Love the Big One! Has ebonite come up with anything even close to replace it? Just my two cents.

I think it just depends on your view point. The One series for me was average at best. I work in a proshop and had the chance to try three different layout "The One" balls, and thought it was nothing more than a top-priced house shot piece. Likewise I tossed three different "Big One" balls (which you said you loved), owned by other guys in my hall, and felt it might be the worst ball Ebonite released in five years. As for the "NV" line which you think is just ok, I have never had balls that roll that well ever. Nine combined honor scores with my 2 Total's and Complete last season, to go along with front 10 then stone 8 pin on Shark pattern. Regardless of the company it depends on your individual game and the conditions you see that determine what specific ball or lines your going to love.

Deadbait, you got me all wrong. I'm saying Im not impressed with what ebonite is doing, why would I be there "wet dream"if they cant sell me on a ball? Fuel I do agree that you must match up, but from what I see and here Nobody where I bowl likes the NV line. Proshops won't even carry them.I do have a TNV and like I said its just ok. BTW since Ebonite is bringing back the ONE I just may be on to something here.

I recently bowled a tournament in GA and there were alot of people throwing the Complete NV.  I haven't drilled one yet but it does look like a very promising piece.  I wish they didn't axe the raid, but at least the gamebreaker and playmaker will be around to toss.

I can imagine that the "house of Ebonite" has been in chaos since the buy out.  And with the huge sellers coming out of their Hammer line they are not letting that go.  So they have to concentrate on that line, because its selling like hot cakes.

And then they got caught up in the NV line.  Well, what can you say.  Not paying attention because they were buying out Columbia and Track?  Or concentrating on not losing the flow of the Hammer line.

Brunswick reintroduced its Ultimate Inferno.  So why not reintroduce one the the balls that rocked the world of bowling when it came out?  Bring back The One.  It might make up for the dismal response to the NV line.  I too liked the Big One better, but I did like The One as well.   So I can understand bringing this ball back out.

I agree that the Playmaker looks impressive on paper.  Hopefully it will live up to its stats on the lanes.

Keep in mind that while Ebonite does all this with their home line, they are also trying to develope and keep up a Columbia and Track line.  And heaven forbid they slack off on the Hammer line.  They are getting a bit spread thin, but hopefully they've kept on staff from prior companies that are familiar with the lines and can contribute to the ongoing development.

Ebonite is re-releasing the origional "The One" here pretty soon.  You may want to grab ahold of that..  The only difference is the surface grit, they are re-releasing it at 4000 abrolon instead of polished at its origional grit.

I haven't really been an ebonite faithful, because the last ball I had was a Matrix Dynasty and I hated it, but alot of my friends use their equipment, and aside of their midline equipment (bash, gamebreaker, SRX300, etc.) they aren't really happy with the new NV line.  Still see alot of stuff thrown from the "One" line though.  My friend loves his Angular One.

I think thats his point.  They don't have a wow ball that everyone is talking about.  They have to re-release a great ball, not new technology.  The closet thing they have is the gamebreaker, but the new summer release NVD might be it too.  Something that gets the hype like the Cell got.

I don't know if I agree with that, the TNV was a big hit here and for a time, it seemed like everybody had a TNV, BW or BWP.  But I would agree that Ebonite hasn't made a big splash since, the NVS was too close to the TNV and the Complete is just a backend monster that's difficult to control here, but there will undoubtedly be some people that will try.  Personally, I'd like a Gamebreaker or a Playmaker if I were to get an Ebonite ball.

leftykingpin....why do you need a "WOW" ball???just because other manufactors are putting out balls they people rave about dont mean that ebonite's stuff aint "WOW"!!!i've got "the one","NVS ",and the "TOTAL N V" and absolutely love each and everyone.i dont need a "wow" ball when i got those balls that perform when i need them.now is it nice to be able to get the newest ball to thow around just as soon as they come out???hell to the yell...but what do that prove???nothing really because my total nv is still ripping the pocket up along with my one.both have at least 200+ games on them and still going strong!!!so unless i want to be one of the first one with a new ball why should i wonder and worry about the next "wow" ball...????if i cant bowl with what i got then i need to stop bowling.ebonite's stuff to me has the lasting power i need without buying every ball that they come out with new!!!would i love to have the complete nv...of course but why should i get it and they coming out with another nv ball???i know im bugging but i just dont think people should look for a "WOW" ball if they got equipment that already works!!!
