Total NV layout suggestions? REVIEW POSTED
« on: March 25, 2007, 02:14:31 PM »
Current lineup:
SCB
Blueberry
Epic Battle
Horizon Solid
Oracle Vision
Rampage

I'd like the NV to fill the spot between the Battle and OV.  I think the Horizon is a good ball, but the Epic is better so it stays.  The HS is probably going bye-bye.

My specs and arsenal layouts are in profile.  Pick me a winner!

My first one was close, but was 3 3/8" stacked leverage. Your Cg is farther right, and the pin is closer to your ring finger.

My guess is early roll, with midlane hook, and still some backend. I'm anxious to hear your results though.

First impressions:

Actual layout measurements:
3" pin to pap
5 1/2" mb to pap
Worn 2000 grit abralon pad

Condition:
The center is trying out a new condition. Rumor is, it will be the state tournament pattern. They took a "load" out of the center of the pattern and added it to the sides(1-7 board). In addition, they added two feet of buff. This is straight from the "horses" mouth.

Warmed up with my Epic Battle just b/c I know it and wanted to give the TNV a fair shake. 3/4 shots and I pulled out the NV. I was standing on 16 sliding on 20, playing 10-8. It was pretty good here, a few ten pins but I was hitting flush and hard. This is my normal line for our league pattern.

I moved a couple right with my feet and eyes, looking at 5 for a break point about 35 feet. This is where the ball shined. It was get to the breakpoint and hook, but not jerk off the spot. My driller said that is what he loved the most about his, that it didn't overreact to friction. The carry was great from that angle.

Moving further left, playing 19 to 12 was good as well. But, a touch wide and it was washout city. This area is jail for me most of the time.

Overall, this is one impressive piece from Ebonite. Even with my speed dominate style it came off the end of the pattern with authority. My faster ball speed really causes me problems when there is oil up front. It this case the oil was flatter so the ball had more time to read the mids and hook off the pattern. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing this pattern as our house condition. It certainly isn't tough, but it blends the wet/dry so much better than our HS.
