Title: Balls at ebonite demo day
Post by: lilpossum1 on October 26, 2014, 12:50:40 PM
What balls will Ebonite corp have there? I may be going to one in November if they are going to have anything that strikes my fancy

For mine, 1 from each company under their umbrella.

Columbia - Crazy Antics
Track - Mx16
Hammer - Legend Widow
Ebonite - Honor

Really now? 4 balls total? Not much of a demo day

They had 16 of each, given four 16#, eight 15#, and four 14#, all drilled with different spans, mostly RH, but a couple LH too...so really can't complain that the 4 balls translated into 64 separate units...

They also had a Hammer Bad Ass and N'Sane Antics instead of the Crazy Antics at the demo I went to, so it was five! The MX16 was my favorite, but that was because I loved how controllable it was and still very strong!

The "midwest circuit" had these as of Friday.  I might have left out a couple...

Track - Tour SiC, Lx05, Mx16
Hammer - Bad Ass, BW Legend, Absolute Flip
Ebonite - Game Breaker 2, Salute, Honor
Columbia - N'Sane Antics, Throw Down, Eruption Pro Hybrid

I just worked a demo a couple weeks ago. The post above is spot on. I seem to recall a Track Tour X as well.

It's common for there to be some overlap for a stop or two when new balls are added... Would have been nice to be able to try a Tour X locally.

This one is in Lafayette, Indiana, so I assume it would be in the Midwest circuit. If it ha the large list, I am definitely in

Just had demo in Kansas.  My impressions from watching.  Bad back so not throwing ball much.
Track SiC - knew nothing about this ball until my son grabbed it.  Very impressed with its smooth, controlled hard arc.  Definitely on radar to purchase as it looks like great medium ball that can cover a lot of conditions.  5-6 boards less than Game Breaker II.  Could cover large medium range.

Track Tour X - looked smooth for those with small hand but a on flippy side for those with high rpm.  If made by Storm, would sell a few.

Hammer Bad Ass - don't like name at all because I have kids.  Wasn't impressed with roll except for high rpm guys.  Seniors all had ball roll out and puke

Hammer BW Legend - as good as its supposed to be.  Control with carry.  Best selling so far.  Not tons of hook, but very suited for typical house shot.  It won't impress you until you've counted the strikes when you're done.  Just one of those boring looking balls that knocks pins down.

Hammer Absolute Flip - What you'd expect from name.  I'm not a fan of these types of balls, but that's more on me.  It does what it's supposed to do in medium to medium-light oil.

Ebonite Game Breaker II - I had very high expectations for this and after watching it, I am only deciding on how many to get.  I can easily see having 2-3 of these with different drill/surface combos in 5-6 ball arsenal.  Needs head oil, but it smooth, controllable, continuous, runs over pins.

Ebonite Salute - barely got any love, so not much opinion

Ebonite Honor - clean in front with good continuation.  light handed folks really liked area this ball gave them.  Guy around here has 3 GBII, Honor, Cyclone to cover typical house shots in town

Columbia Nsane Antics - kind of tricky ball in that it looks great going up boards, but can't turn corner going left to right.  Seemed to be one-trick pony

Columbia Throw Down - didn't see much love when I was there.  My daughter liked it at first going up boards, but moved in a little and lost carry

Columbia Eruption Pro Hybrid - I had high expectations for this as I see lots of EP's around.  Didn't see good look from those I saw.  Low RPM couldn't get read in oil and responded too quick and burnt up in dry.  Heavy RPM just saw skip/flip and had trouble controlling.  This house has wet-dry conditions, so maybe just not best for this condition.  Couple seniors liked this ball, but didn't get excited about it as they all had balls similar.

Thanks for your opinions on everything! It is nice to read the opinions of the calls from somebody that actually was there and threw the stuff

No MX16, just the SiC and Tour X from Track.  I don't buy very many balls per year and I was just getting used to Track's old naming system.

Thanks for the feedback.
Your assessments helped me in some future ball selections and purchases.

GB2 - awesome piece- you are right on the money, i could easily have more than 1 of these.
I do like the EP hybrid, its smoother and overall 3-4 less than my GB2
I did not like the EP orange
I do like the EP black, orange 1 went in the garbage can after 2nd layout and many surface changes
the track sic looks very interesting...

great feedback, thank you
