Need help please
« on: September 29, 2005, 03:42:13 PM »
Hi,

i am new here. i own nothing but Ebonite balls - Big Time, Primal Instinct
, Maxim Blazing Fire, and Tornado (Navy/Red/Gold)

here is my problem when the lanes dry up on me and i am all the way to the left and putting it out right it still hooks really hard on my what ball would get that hooks less then the Tornado.. the lanes are always oiled 10-10.. i need a less hooking bowl but i always threw a big hook i know its killing me but i was looking for some input...

Thanks

If you can, try to throw with less hand, more open palm, toward the pins. This will calm down a hook, but a good coat of polish, Track Extender is good, but without seeing you, it's hard to suggest just what you need.

Try to throw more palm, less hand and see if that helps.

I never try to turn peeps away from certain companies, but maybe a Track Desert Heat with a very neutral drilling or maybe negative drilling. Keep it polished and it should work.

If you go for another ball, try a drilling with the pin on the bridge above the fingers with the CG in the palm or even below the middle finger. A Tornado should be fine, another option could be a Power Groove form Brunswick (similar performance level) or a Power Groove Dry/R.

You mentioned that you moved all the way left.  But you do not say if you moved your target along with it.  If you still throw the ball into the dry area, its still going to hook.  Just the entry angle will be different.  So when you move your feet you also should be moving your target....inside.  Maybe you are doing this, but if so, then you need more drastic moves with your target and/or start learning how to target depths up and down the lane too.  Targeting further down the lane will also create length and delay hook.  I don't think its a matter of buying another ball. Rather one of learning how to play drier lanes.

if nothing else, you can try to see if there are any other urethane balls out there.. i know Visionsary has one out now, if you feel like changing MFG.  just a thought.. maybe someone you know has an old one lying around... if you need help finding one, let me know
