Compare these balls for me guys.....
« on: July 14, 2003, 12:22:19 AM »
Predator Pursuit, Jungle green, Apex Obsession.

Let me know what would be good to get. I need some solid balls. Something strong for heavy oil on top of my V2 sanded and something under.

I currently have:

V2 Particle (Want to replace)
V2 Sanded (Pin Under with the Cg kicked out and x-hole)
V2 pearl (4 x 4 drill)
Tornado (Label)
Maxim

Well judging from your current lineup and without reading your profile my guess is that you like to play the track area and going up the boards is your primary strength.  If this is the case then out of the three you mentioned if you want something to replace the V2 Particle, I'd go with the V2 Strong or the Pursuit.  The Pursuit seems to be the earliest rolling of the new line(besides the Obsession) while the V2 Strong is the most versatile highly aggressive ball in the new line.  The V2 Strong still gets good length but when it gets in the midlane and starts revving it doesn't stop.  The Predator Pursuit is more Roll/Lope/Hard Arc and it looks like a great ball for Strokers.   The Jungle Green might be too angular and the Obsession may hook and die out if there isn't enough oil in the heads and midlane.  The Pursuit would probaly be your best choice with a light 1500 grit sanding to even out the reaction.

I like DP3's thoughts on the ball above the V2...for the ball below I would look into the Stinger Low Flare Particle or the TPC Shooter.  Each will give you a slightly different look, but will be less than the V2 Blue/Black.

Jonathan, you have several options for what you are looking for. For something that hooks more than your V2 you can go two directions: A) Particle - Predator Jungle Green ( this ball will be fairly angular on the back end but still will hook quite a bit overall ) and B) Reactive - V2 Strong ( this ball will be a little jerkier on the back than the PJG ). As far as something that will hook less, i would reccommend the Predator Pursuit. This ball is similar to the origial Apex ( same core shape ). This ball is very smooth throughout the entire lane and very easy to read. Of course surface prep will be a key with each of these balls. You can "tweak" the surfaces to fit into your arsenal a little better. Good luck

You're right Jeff. My fault, i was thinking about something else. The V2 Strong has a similar cover to the Predator Jungle Green & the Apex Adrenaline. Sorry about that. Still to me this ball has more of a "reactive" look than most particles.

Thanks Jeff and everybody. I have been reading and pondering over this and was thinking the same. The Jungle Green and the Predator Pursuit look very interesting. I think i'll go with those two. I was also looking at the V2 Strong but my V2 Sanded and Pearl are good enough. Now it's all about what drilling pattern i want. Maybe a 4 x 4 or Pin under the ring finger and cg kicked out. I find having one drill is easier to compare also. Youu can either just move up or down with your whole arcenal.

Anyone test out the Obsession or Savage Flip?
