Title: EBI demo day - short observations
Post by: SVstar34 on September 28, 2019, 07:11:59 PM
Heavy oil house shot + Cheetah

My favorites: Hammer Ruthless, the Sauce, Statement Hybrid, C300 Chaos Black, and Track Tactix Hybrid

Ruthless: great for me on both the house shot and Cheetah. In between smooth and flippy, very nice motion and continuation.

Sauce: I didn't know what to expect from this ball and it impressed me. Core really revved up for me and retained a ton of energy charging through the 8 pin on the heavy oil house shot. Had a decent look on Cheetah.

Statement Hybrid: very good ball. Strong backend and continuation on oil

Chaos Black: This ball wowed me as well. Good length through the heads and strong off the dry. On broken down Cheetah I was able to keep moving left and throwing it right like a house shot.

Tactix Hybrid: I was expecting a slightly smoother reaction but had a lot of backend for me. Strength-wise very comparable to the Chaos Black. A little too smooth for me on the house shot but on broken down Cheetah i could wheel it.

Choice Solid: strong ball, good heavy roll. Retained energy pretty well for such a strong cover. Worked well on Cheetah and the heavy oil house shot for me

Web Pearl: very good ball, nice rounded shape with good continuation

Paradox Red: strong and smooth

GB3 black/blue: a little too long for me in box finish, it'd probably work better for me at 2000 or 3000.

Resurgence: I expected to like this one, but it wasn't quite there for me. I can't pinpoint the reason why. Too strong playing outside and too smooth moving in. I wouldn't mind trying again with polish

Baller: I expected this to not work to well for me and I was right. Just too forward off the spot for me. Definitely a strong ball that needs oil

In2ition: another one I expected to be too forward off the spot for me and it was. It was smoother than the Tactix Hybrid on Cheetah but had more motion on the house shot.

Thanks for the initial impressions.  Not going to lie Ruthless really pops with the shelf appeal in person (especially for sanded ball) and I am not much of color guy (mildly color blind in fact).  I am guessing that ball is going to sell very well if reaction is half as good as it looks.

I really liked the Ruthless. Fits the medium oil, versatile solid reaction. It was the first ball I picked up when I found out they had Cheetah on some lanes. Definitely one I could see myself buying

To add a little extra detail: with the demo day layout, it's right around 5" pin to pap for me, maybe even a little longer than 5".

I generally stay in the 3" - 4 1/4" pin to pap range now especially on asymms as I've had issues with longer pins being too forward off the spot and taller cores have also rolled better for me. This is why I didn't have high expectations on the Baller or In2ition

The Baller is a legit beast IMO.
That's a shape and continuation that Columbia hasn't had for some time.
Used on a medium volume house shot and just kept moving in, it just kept on going.
At OBB, definitely needs some volume.
Once lane shined, worked well on a different broken down house pattern.
Have a feeling this could be my new benchmark piece
