Balldoc,
I would love to have made it, but I made a couple of key mistakes in scheduling my summer.  Going to Reno for nationals the end of june and to vegas to help run a tournament in the middle of july left no time available for me to make it to Hoptown.  I hope it sucks so I don't fell like I missed out.

Just joking.  I am sure this is going to be an experience for all in attendance.

No, I leave for Reno that Tuesday to bowl nationals.  I have a lot to learn when scheduling my summers.  I could have flown to Vegas Tuesday and went to the Ebonite showcase and then flown on the nationals, but I didn''t think about it until I had already booked my flight.

First day was a success.Over 100 Pro Shop guys and girls.
Gary Parsons, Bill Mounce, Mike Riggins, Leon Lamm, we are not
short of names.
We saw balls made from liquid to polish, WOW.
Saw an overseas Mission, and a new ball to be announced later.
If you have ever called Ebonite in the last many years, you spoke
to Vivian Craft, well I met her.
Ebonite and Track balls reviewed and tested today.
Great ribs and cold beverages were in order.
Columbia and Hammer tomorrow.

I'll tell ya, the Vital Sign is the real deal. Threw it yesterday during the demo, and lost to it today during the first step ladder match of the EBI Sweeper. I used my Jigsaw Trap for the two games of qualifying to go +95, yea they were tough lol...

The 607ASE was good. Well let me just say all the products were good but for the releases coming up, I'd have to rank the brands as 1) Hammer 2) Track 3) Ebonite and 4) C300...all are really close to each other but IMHO, that's my assessment...I hope the next time they do this event more pro shops participate! This is going to help pro shops across the country

You sure made 19 and 20 look easy. Omega Shirt won the sweeper with  track 607.
Oh, besides the Grand, he took the demo ball home.
Jeff Mr Hammer went 290, 270 something. He was hammering them down.

LOL Dan was throwing it good..He practiced earlier as much as I did..it's no wonder that he won..

I wonder if Fig stuck to his incentive for winning with the 607ASE

Jeff,

Thanks for the great time. Ebonite International really took care of us while we were down there. Great food and drink both days, and the hotels were clean.

My favorite balls were:

Ebonite Vital Sign
Hammer Plague
Columbia Pure Physics

I didn't get to throw the Jigsaw Trap, because the lefty balls close to my span were somehow drilled with the switch grip hole too tight. If you put any thumbslug in, you couldn't twist it or get it out.

I bowled on lanes 1-10 only both days. This was the 'long oil pattern'. No problem getting any of these pieces to hook.

At my home house of Ideal Lanes, the lanes are tighter than any lane pattern that was laid out at Pinnacle. SO, I foresee a lot of those 3 balls  selling in my shop.

Lots of good information was available to anyone who asked. I had a long talk with Ron Hickland, who is one of the R and D guys for EBI.

Thanks again, it was a blast!

Working on the 2010 four ball arsenal (not including spare ball), with the choice of only one ball from each member of the Ebonite family...what would be your recommendations for each of the most commonly encountered conditions - Heavy/Medium/Light/Dry? If you want to consider Tournament as a condition..that is acceptable
Title: Re: Ebonite Extravaganza
Post by: sunsetlefty on July 12, 2010, 08:30:19 AM
Heavy       Columbia Pure Physics
Medium      Ebonite Vital Sign or Hammer Plague or Hammer Jigsaw Trap
Light       Track 607A SE
Dry         Hammer Backlash (Red)
Tournament  Ebonite Vital Sign or Hammer Jigsaw Trap

These are strictly my opinions, others may have other options for these conditions.
