Is the Magic Symmetric?
« on: October 08, 2009, 09:06:06 AM »
Interested in the ball, but the core looks asymmetrical to me, and I like to stick with symmetric. Yet, the core is called Symmetric mass bias and I don't see a bias rating... Hmmm.

Any help out there?

Who knows what they call, but it is asymmetrical and does have a marked mass bias.  I''m not exactly sure of the rating, I think its .022.  I know the one series was .027 and the nvd is .030.

put the MB in the thumb and it will pretty much negate any effect that it would or could have on the ball.

It is a low mass bias core where the MB only matters at 16lbs. Below that, just put you favorite symmetrical drill on it and have at it.

if you put the MB in the thumb it will INCREASE the asymmetry

yes.. it will increase the assymetry but it won't change the type of reaction or shape of hook of the ball.. like if you put the MB at 20 deg or 45 deg would.. putting it in the thumb will keep the roll like it would be on a conventional symetric drilled ball..

Hmmm. Thanks for the clarification, but my problem is with ability to throw asymetric balls in general, therefore increasing asymetry would be a bad thing.

what I am saying is that with the mb in the thumbhole it is going to behave like a symetrical ball..and pretty much negate the effects of the assymetry... most symetrical balls when drilled will spin up to the thumbhole when put on a determinator.. when you drill an asymetrical ball the mb is strong enough to make the ball spin up to a different spot than the thumb hole..

just put it in the thumbhole then adjust the cover to tweak the reaction.
