Ebonite Pivot Point
« on: December 27, 2013, 02:21:01 PM »
Anyone have any info on this ball yet?  I can't find anything online. My pro shop buddy got a few in.

The only thing i know is that it is a pearl finish of the original Pivot.

Those who can't bowl, bowl with two hands.

I'm interested to know how this compares to:

  • Pivot,
  • Challenge, and
  • Hammer Cold Blood.

Something about the bowlingball.com video really irks me; I don't know if it is the bowlers used to demo the ball, or the lanes (instead of the range finders at 40ft, they have another set of arrows; weird), but something just isn't right.. it's probably just me.

The Pivot still has me looking at Ebonite, but the Pivot Point also has my attention as well, even as I slowly migrate everything back to Hammer.

Used  mine on Monday. Longer than the Pivot. Great back end reaction. With my slow speed, gonna put more polish. Everyone else on my pair left at least two buckets.None for me. The Legacy is sharper for me. Had a few questions about why this Pivot looked different.
Pivot Point, great shelf appeal, and great ball.

Watch TJ throw it at the Bradley, but he had 500 abralon on it. He said he choose the pivot point over the pivot because it gave him more back end for the 45 ft Bradley open pattern, which was a tough pattern.

Sounds like the PP will be a great addition to the Pivot. Ebonite last few balls are turning the corner, were they needed more on the backend and not so early. Good to see.

The Pivot Point is an excellent complement to the Pivot and fits in nice with some other Ebonite products.  It is much cleaner and angular than the Pivot but also fills in where the Source and Innovate do not match up.  The Pivot Point is stronger than the Innovate, offering an earlier reaction but with even more continuation.  It also offers quicker move than the Source.  I see this as a ball that you probably won’t use on fresh patterns unless they are medium.  However they will see more play because of their versatility than Source, Innovate and even Cyclones.  It matches closest with the cyclone but with a different breakpoint shape and continuation.

Video is now up on Youtube:

Same format as they did with the Legacy and Pivot. Seeing what they are talking about in the clip, this ball does appear to compare directly with Hammer's Cold Blood. They are almost interchangeable. Both provide length and more continuous back end motion versus their respective brand's complementary previous releases (skid/flip with First Blood, and heavy, early rolling with the Pivot).

It's nearly an even push for these, except for heavy oil use and shelf appeal.

I may pass on this one and look at the Pivot instead. Either way, this ball does look good on the lane.
