Ebonite Reactive 8 Ball
« on: February 16, 2007, 09:10:53 AM »
Anyone Know where I can get one of these?  I bought one a few years back (1998).  Loved the ball and would really like to have another.

Wow, haven't seen nor even heard of one of these for years. Has yours been usable in today's "oil" environment? Yes, there's a lot of dry out there still.

These are quite rare.  From time to time, one will pop up on eBay.  There might be an outside shot that MadMax on here would have one (maybe shoot him a PM and ask).  Otherwise, just get lucky finding one in the back corner of some random proshop?  LOL.
Good luck!

Be careful about this ball if you find an old used one somewhere. There was also a cheaper model of this ball sold by a chain store called Sports Authority.

The original had the weightblock from the later Wolf series balls, but the cheap chain store model has only a 3 piece "pancake" core in it.  Quite a performance differential.

Ohh I guess I should clarify a bit.. all my bowling equip got stolen a few years back (8 ball included) it was actually the first reactive ball that I had ever used and I really miss it.  I actually bought a Fuze Detonator about 2 years after having the 8 ball and continued to throw the 8 ball.  i justr want another one for sh*ts n giggles.

thanks

Nice.. i got a message from some guy that said he has one new in box... but i can't verify until I see a picture of it.  I'll be very suprised if I find one undrilled.  I told him 50 bucks new plus shipping.. sound like a fair deal?

that would sounds like a great deal.  They sell for much more than that on eBay typically.  Its hard to find ANYTHING that's not entry level NIB for $50 + ship.

The 8 Ball still is not a bad ball for todays conditions. Friend of mine still uses his and I recenty brought mine out of retirement to play with again. Shot my first 300 with the 8 Ball too.

$50 new in box, take it and run if he accepts!!! That should go for somewhere around $100-$120 due to its rarity!!

I sold a used one probably a year ago or so for $70 plus shipping

Fair?  No way, that's rape plain and simple.  $50 for NIB reactive 8 ball, you got to be kidding.  Its one of the best balls Ebonite ever made and still hooks great on today's slicker conditions.  If you had offered him $125 + shipping then that'd be a deal.  $175 + shipping would have been fair.

By the way, what weight was he selling?

I'd love to find one again for the right price.  I shot 300 with that ball back in '99.  I quit bowling for several years and when I started back up a couple months ago, I pulled my 8-ball out and the shell was split in half!
