need first ball

Hello,I'v only been bowling a short time and I feel I need a reactive ball.I have not got a clue what ball to get I like the look of the ebonite Optyx illusion but my proshop guy says I would be better to start with a sanded or matte ball he suggests the savage sanded.I'v read alot of reviews on balls and the ebonite vortex 2 sanded sounds like the one I would go for.Also is it a good idear to start with a ball that is tiped.At the moment I have a ebonite maxim 14# dont know how it is drilled but the pin is in the middle of the 3 holes.I dont know if i'm a stroker , cranker or a tweener I probaly throw with low revs at 45 degees and medium ball speed so Any suggestions are welcome (not just about the ball I meen any suggestions!)

P.S I'm 30 and 12 stone and only been playing about 2 months

I've heard the V2 described as "center heavy" which would allow the ball to rev easier for you, which is probably what you would like.  Any time you don't have anything reactive or particle that you have thrown before you can only guess what the new ball will do.  You just have to start somewhere and then after you have thrown that first ball for a while you know what the next ball has to do to be more what you need.  I think the V2 would be a good choice.

One cool thing about Ebonite is that they have a demo program, so if your pro shop or a pro shop that is close to you sets up a demo day with them, you get a chance to try out several (I think 8) different balls.  It only costs $10 for around an hour or an hour and a half of bowling.  They have different spans and removable thumb inserts to use.  I'd check and see if there is one you could go to.  You can look on Ebonite's website, www.ebonite.com.

We named the V2 "sanded" because it eliminated confusion to those bowlers who might not know what a solid is.  "Sanded" differentiated it from the Pearl.  we occasionally get fazing in the coverstock (during colder months or wetter days).  Some people confused fazing with pearl, others did not.  Calling it sanded was the most easily understood description.  The V2 line features very simple names:  Sanded, Pearl, Dry, Strong, and the soon-to-be Clean.
