Difference between the three Missions

If you had all three Mission's drilled the same, what would be the main difference between the three.  Which of the three do you think would handle the most oil?  Which is the most angular?

IMO....the domination is the most likeable of the three....it fits between the original and the 2.0 for me..

I would say its like a hybrid of the first two, it handles oil like the original but still has a controllable read off the backend that is still decently angular....

Had a great outing on a 45 ft THS last night...

Most oil, probably the mission, but ima fan of the domination because I feel its better when the lanes transition...

My 2.0 is the most angular even with the drilling being an earlier reading layout

A little insight from my perspective...A little longwinded, I am a shop guy ya know...

All 3 handle medium-heavy oil well. The Mission and Mission $250K (Domination) are a little more forgiving when encountering friction, which was the biggest knock based on our feedback against the 2.0, as it was very very responsive to dry boards. This caused our players to rely on certain layouts and surface adjustments to create the right "look". In a nutshell, when it matched, it was great. When it didnt, it wasnt close. The other Missions offered a little more forgiveness even if not quite prepped to match the pattern perfectly. The Mission $250K is the most angular of the 3 balls in the backend portion of the lane. The Original Mission is sort of the sandwich ball, giving you good clean length through the front (granted you were using it on a pattern with enough volume or your speed matched) and a smooth strong arcing motion down the lane. The Mission 2.0 was similar in length as the other Missions, but due to the high volume of pearl added, it really explodes off the midlane and creates a very "early" look.

 

To try and simplify where you might apply them to yourself I use this for the guys in the pro shop when they are looking into one of the three. If you like to swing the ball, or are more comfortable seeing stronger motion in the back, drill a $250K. If your used to seeing more even roll across the lane, and sort of play tighter to the oil/dry line, the Original Mission will offer a good choice. For higher speed players, our lower rev rate guys, and the straight down and in, we go with the 2.0. Like I said the 2.0 from our experience has a stronger move off the drier parts of the lane and will open up the midlane really well for those type of players who usually get to the dry a little sooner than the other styles of players we might recommend the other Missions for.

I have all three and the original and the Domination are drilled the same with Pin over Ring and CG kicked slightly right.  The 2.0 is drilled with a dual angle layout where the pin is up and right.  I loved the original and now the Domination.  I was never really happy with the 2.0 because of the reaction off the dry as said above.  i am still not sure if it was the layout or the ball.  I start the night on a THS with the domination and it is pretty angular at the back end.  By the end of the night I am throwing the original and there is defaintly less of a move off the back end but it clears the heads much better than the Domination.  Together these 3 are really a good combo and I would recommend them.  In the last 12 months with these I have 9 300s and 2 800s.  It should of been 10 and 3 fi I had not thrown a bad shot last night with the 11 ball and then waited a couple of frames too late in the 3rd game to go to the original.  Nobodys perfect.
 
The other thing I would add about the 2.0 is it seems real prone to self shining the cover.  I had to hit the surface every 10 to 15 games to get rid of the shine with it.  The original would take about 40 to 50 games and I have thrown the Domination 21 games so far and it is still not shined up.

Phoneman, I purchased the original almost 3 1/2 weeks ago and really LOVE it. It has made me forget my Gamebreaker of which I loved also. I bowl 2d leagues and now have 21 games on the Mission. I can see a light shine beginning to develop on the ball. I note you said that you hit the surface of the Mission every 40-50 games. What do you "hit" the surface with, Abralon, Sandpaper, Scotcbrite, etc? ........ Also what grit do you use? .... I liked mine out of box and would like to keep the cover as close as possible to that finish.

Hey Chris, how have you been doing? Doing great myself, especially with my new Mission. 


 


I gave a lot of thought to purchasing the Domination or Vital Energy after my Mission and almost did, but knew I would need a third ball below those two balls. Since I am only bowling in 2 leagues plus sometimes practice maybe once a week for 3-4 games, and only bowling on THS, I didn't feel I needed 3 balls in addition to my polyester one for RH corner pins. I previously had 3 balls for those conditions but ended up using only 2 of them most of the time.


 


Due to those circumstances, I decided to go with 2 balls and needed something a step down from my Mission, so after discussions with dna300x  and Gazoo, I chose the Game On. Donnie Cassel is ordering it for me today.

I have my original at 4000 abralon.  I throw it on the spinner and hit it with a wet 4000 abralon pad when it its getting shiny.
