Title: Gamebreaker
Post by: bowler838 on February 08, 2011, 05:12:03 PM
I'm sure this post has been beaten to death before. I've heard rumors that the Gamebreaker is coming back out?  Wondering and hoping what I've heard is true

It is RUMORS....

I loved my Gamebreaker as much or more than anyone else. Mine probably has at least 300 games on it if not more. Two weeks ago I decided to buy the original Mission and all I can say is ...WOW ... am I ever glad I did buy the original Mission. It has already made me forget about my Gamebreaker. I am told that the Vital Sign is under rated and is a good replacement also for the Gamebreaker if you are looking for a ball to replace the Gamebreaker.

Where have you guys been hiding? The gamebreaker was released AGAIN 4 months ago?!

I dont do a very good job of staying up to date with releases because my main focus is college and my local pro shop doesn't have the gamebreaker in.  Along with that the Ebonite website has it listed as discontinued.

Are you actually being serious?!? My distributor has 80 15lb gamebreakers in stock currently. The Gamebreaker needed to be re released, Ebonite sucked at marketing the re release though.

To the best of my knowledge, Ebonite hasn't shown it on their web site since discontinuing the Gamebreaker. A rumor came out a few months ago that Ebonite was going to re-release the Gamebreaker again, but people supposedly in the know said it was just a rumor and not true. I wonder if your distrubutor bought up a bunch of them when they were discontinued????

Maybe jls will chime in here as he is usually up on Ebonite.

anyway... Im friends with and on staff with Ebonite and Ed Gallagher (Ebonite Brand Manager) and the GameBeaker has not been re-released. plain and simple. Im sure he would have told me 2 weeks ago when I talked to him at the Orlando seminar (or in the last 4 months).

yes im curious... I've looked at every major distributor in the country. none have them. Id buy 2 cases if thery did. so would every other person who owned that ball. 80 15lb Breakers? Zero sounds a little closer.

I too would have bought a case of Gamebreakers until my purchase of the original Mission 3 weeks ago. As much as I loved the Gamebreaker, the performance of my new Mission has made me almost forget it.

The current rumor is that Ebonite has discontinued the Mission and if true, I think they are making a mistake just like they did when they discontinued the Gamebreaker.

As for that distributor having 80 15# Gamebreakers in stock, I think that MTD300  is merely yanking everyone's chain.

The Gamebreaker will be re-released this year...more than likely before or around Bowl Expo (June 29-30), unfortunately no set date tho.

Ric, one more question on the Gamebreaker....if re-released, will the V2 core have to be altered?

IMHO I believe the Mission is being dicontinued because once the Mission 2.0 came out, it more or less killed any future sells of the original. When the Domination/$250K came out, it basically did the same thing to the 2.0. So I am not surprised that it is discoed.

As far as the GB...not sure, but I had heard previously that the GB would be grandfathered in as far as the core is concerned, as it was released before the change. But do not quote me on this.

Im going to my distributor in a few days time, i'll upload a pic of the MASSES of gamebreakers they have in 14,15 and 16. Probably close to 200 balls in total. Maybe this was international re release? The new Gamebreaker hooks a little more in the back than the original IMO

At the present moment, if international release, that would make sense that your distributor might have these balls.

MTD300 is correct. It was re-released here in Europe some months ago. I was surprised to hear on Xtra Frame that there were no plans for a re-release as I had already received my test ball. This is the flyer my distributor (Bowltech, same as MTD I suspect) sent out in November 2010 http://www.bowltech.dk/flyers/gamebreaker.pdf

It is the original V2 core and I found no significant differences between the original vs. the re-release

This is the review I wrote on October 19th http://www.bowltech.dk/ballreviews/ebonite-gamebreaker/. And if you look in the Ebonite section you'll find that the other three test staffers also wrote reviews late last year.

Hope this clears up the confusion

The Gamebreaker that is being re-released is exactly the same as the original. One of the big shops out West that does a lot of Ebonite ball tests already recieved a case to test and do a video. I also saw a few Ebonite guys using them while out bowling the TOC a few weeks ago.

When I went home Friday Night and watched the US Open Match Play, I noticed Tommy Jones was using a Gamebreaker.  I cant imagine that he would be using one from the bag he drilled a couple years ago.  Lets face it.  The pros probably arent going to use "older" stuff when part of their contract is to get exposure of the latest and greatest.

I am a shill for Ebonite International, but the Gamebreaker turned me off to the brand until Columbia made it's resurgence.

So I guess my question is, will the re-release have a new cover formula? Or the same one that only hooked for 2 weeks? I love the idea of the Gamebreaker, but in the end it was the biggest equipment disappointment ever. I really wish they would just re-release the V2 sanded for all of us die hards, and stop giving us sub-par copies.

I note in a post just above mine here that Joe Jr. like myself hasn't had a problem with the GB covers either.

I had a first run TNV that died after 50 games and would not come back to life and a ONE that did the same thing.

Yet, I have a Playmaker with the GB10.7 cover thats still going strong..

Hmmm.
