Anyone put major surface on this ball yet? Something like 1000 grit. This is the most inconsistent ball I have ever thrown. Reads the lane one shot. Next shot, the ball snaps across the face. I’m adjust into it, and the ball hooks more. Or, the ball doesn’t read the lane at all and leaves a bucket. Hoping some surface helps smoooth it out and read better

sounds like its a bit too squirty for it. try 500/4000 to 1000 itself maybe too early.

On edit, our shot has not been the easiest. We have dirty back ends with inconsistent oil. This ball magnifies those tendencies more than anything else I have ever seen. I am thinking 1000 may help blend the pattern out

I've seen similar conditions and went through this with my Phenom pearl on them. I took it to a worn 1000 so it's closer to a fresh 2000. It was much better.

My GB2 MVP showed similar behavior. Very inconsistent. I tried multiple surfaces, and finally gave up on it. When it read the lane, it was amazing. Just not consistent enough to keep in the bag as it was impossible to gauge when to use it.

It just sounds like what I have been seeing, to shiny and it creates over/under hell if you don't release it exactly the same each time. Not super forgiving IMO, but when you have the right matchup for it, it seems to really go through the pins with a ton of energy. The 500/4000 idea may just work for you, I took mine to 3000 + a light polish because mine was just to early for my house shot. And then I got my hands on web tour, youza....the GB3 doesn't even come out of the bag much anymore

a worn 3000 is useless unless you have defined friction. 500 will give you some teeth and the 4000 overlay will get it through the fronts a little better. I have found that I rarely like the out of box finish on polished releases, even on my Rhodman Pearl which is my favorite. I either knock it off with a 2000 pad or hit it with 500/2000 or 4000. practice with it a bit and let the lane shine it up and it will be much better.

When you hit on something, please let us know. I've got one of these and have tried several different surface changes and, so far, nothing works. I am thinking about taking it to 500/2000 and see if it would be close to the solid version. At least then I'd have some use for it.

The ball is now probably my favorite one in my bag. Idk what happened, but it came to life. I used either a 1000 or 2000 pad, either one worn, with polish on top. It is a super hard arc that is predictable, yet carries from steep angles. Cleanish through the fronts still

So you basically took it back to factory (500/1000 Polished) or maybe 2000 with polish. In any event I glad the thing started working. Now if mine will do the same I'll be ok.

We seem to be seeing dry fronts and hang downlane all to often
I gave mine away for the very same reasons you described above, however the Rhodman Pearl is a much better piece for me with a little surface
