Ordered new shoes from the Proshop, and the Real One was just sitting there. No one wanted it for some odd reason. This week is my birthday, so I said why the heck not. When I started bowling, I went w. Ebonite, but stopped throwing after college.
I love the ball. It can be a bit overly aggressive the moment it hits dry i.e .5 board to Brooklyn aggressive (and this was after Game 1).
However, I didn't win any of the other Ones. :(
I wanted an Angular >:( :'(

So the promo is, place an order for a One series ball and see what you get?
-
Yes.

1 in 9 chance of getting a special ball. If you get one of the special releases you also get a Real One. So essentially a 1 in 9 chance of getting two bowling balls.
The ball goes on sale Oct 3.

Very tempting. So looks like special releases are The One, Big One, Angular One, and Infinite One. I never owned any of them so does make it more tempting to play on the nostalgia.

They're all good in different ways.
The covers kinda breakdown to me like this in roto Grip terms
One-eternal cell cover
Big one-hyper cell solid cover
Infinite one-critical theory cover
Angular one-hyper cell skid cover.
They all got a spot in the bag ya know???? I'd take any of em!!

I def agree w. your assessment of the One/Big One comparison to the RG LineUp. I think that's one of the reasons I loved my BigOne when I had it, so long ago.
Never got to throw the Infinite or Angular. One of my collegiate teammates had the AO, and that ball looked like butter going down the lanes. Obviously that may have a different look when I throw, but can't find out, if I never have one.
I will say, the Real One is quite angular....and a back-end beast!

hard for me to explain where the real one fits in, prob if put polish on the infinite, that would be close.

I had gone to a demo day this past weekend and was looking forward to throwing the Real One. Got to throw it and wasnt impressed. Seemed to me, and a few others, to labor down lane and leave a lot of 10pins. Maybe wasnt the ideal condition for it, but compared to the Columbia balls i threw, they were far better responding, Maybe due to the cores is all i can think since covers are all the similar since its the same family. IDK if they change covers between companies or not. None of the Ebonites impressed me but thats not saying it wont impress you, im just stating what i saw for myself.

Well at least some of the legacy balls will probably go NIB on ebay. Guessing won't be cheap though.

I had the most success with the Infinite One and a ton of polish on it. One of my all time favorites as well as the Original One. I need a new ball like I need a hole in my head, but the Real One can realistically go close to the top of the bag for a lot of bowlers. I talked to two staffers that already have theirs and they say this hooks ALOT. I'm falling for the gimmick.

Otherwise known as "price gouging" according to some here...

Not stepping on that land mine. Don't have a lot of Ebonite nostalgia personally so won't be me paying big bucks.

We had a Big One and an Angular opened in our Shop, so far.

My brother got an Angular One in his box... that I suggested he pick. ;D Kind of kicking myself afterwards, but I wasn't going to buy it anyways I guess. Not much need for something like that right now given what I have drilled and undrilled.
