The shop here wants $230 for pretty much every high-end ball from any manufacturer (Lane 1, Lanemasters, Brunswick, Morich,...) before tax or inserts/slug.  Thumb and fingers are $27.50.  Add tax and you're looking at $275.  If you bowl league, there's a discount on high end balls of 15%, so about $240 out the door.

I haven't figure out yet why I don't go to him when even with gas and two hours of driving, the guy I go to is cheaper.

$275 - drilled with inserts and tax.

The shop owner/operator claims the higher he prices them, the more he sells!

I would tell that pro shop operator to go fly a kite.. He is stealing from people.. But if people are dumb enough to pay that ridiculous price, then so be it.. They get what they deserve..

If that's what he needs to charge to turn a profit, there's not much you can do about it.  That's probably the situation here and why the balls are so expensive.  I've been to that shop before and while he's good, I can't say I feel like I've gotten nearly $100 more service than the guy two hours away gives me.

He's a nice guy, I'm glad he's taken over the shop.  Always willing to talk bowling.  He knows I don't buy from him, I asked him about an Energy at the beginning of the year and that's where I got the $240 from.  A few months later, I had my Energy for $90 from Joe plus $45 for drilling.  He knows I didn't get it from him but he's never given me any kind of hard time about it.  I'm glad, I'd be more than happy to let him do work on my stuff.

If it is a pro shop that knows what they are doing and has great service then they should be selling them for about 209.95 plus grips and slugs. At what the ball cost the pro shop operator if he is not selling it for that price he is not making a living and is out to under cut his competition.

If I drive up to Phoenix I can get it OTD for about $162 with tax included.  If I try to use the local shop that can't seem to drill anything correctly anyways it'd be around $250.  Another local shop that looks to actually do a good job of drilling has them for $225+tax.

First one: Paid $210 out the door.

Second one: Was given to me by a great friend, Bob Sneed. He didn't like his, so he gave it to me. Paid 50 to plug and drill.

Almost had my third one last night, but I need to stop spending so much lol

What shop are you dealing with in Phoenix that is selling them that cheap everyone of the shops I have been to and called in the phoenix area is $189.00 plus tax for the ball then another $10.00 for grips and $25.00 for Thumb Slug so thats around $224.00 in my calculations
