Big One vs. Ebonite's Other Oilers
« on: February 25, 2006, 09:00:04 AM »
So how does this ball compare to Ebonite's other strong pieces like the XXXCel or the Obsession? I'm looking for length and backend comparisons above all. Thanks...I would look at the specs, but Ebonite seems to have changed their system and did not update all their balls so...

Much more backend than both! An except for an absolute flood probably better all around than the XXXCEL

i shot my big one on the same shot as my addiction with the same drill and saw no difference, my adiction is polished over the original surface which was 1200 grit i think and it was like i threw the same ball.

Are you saying that you think the xxxcel would be better for the flood? If so why?

Let me put it simply... This ball hooks 10 boards stronger than TheOne.. period

I bowled the TAT in vegas at Texa Station a few weeks back and had a chance to throw TheOne and TheBigOne...

The shot was freshly oiled.. it was a heavy unit pattern with out of bounds and about a 38 foot shot.  I used TheOne and it held very well until the patterns broke down and the carry down blanket the break point.. at this point I the ball wouldn't een wrinkle...

Then I grabbed a BigOne and completly rippied the surface off the lanes.  It didn what  TheOne could not do in a million years.  I shood deep and played 18 to 6 and it actullay set up easily and jerked so hard I almost creamed my pants.  This ball hooks way more than any ball I have ever thrown, and compltly walked through the heavy carry down with no trouble whatsoever.  I was F'ing amazed.

To answer your question.. the XXXcel can't even compare to this ball.. it is easily 5 boards stronger, but turns when all other ebonite balls cannot.

Billy Ray and Crankin are correct.  I have both the Big One and the One and am very familiar with the XXXcel (also a great ball. I have many others, The Big One starts up sooner than the one but as the others said, look out when it turns the corner.  More ball than I thought it would be, I am still trying to understand it as I have only thrown it once on fresh a couple days ago after drilling it. Number one drilling but I am going to take the surface down or might have to move my weight hole down to smooth it out. Hope this helps, good bowling to all.

Does it have more length naturally than say, the Obsession? I acknowledge they're two different coverstocks i.e particle vs resin but their length can be compared nonetheless.
