Show Time Pearl
« on: April 21, 2005, 06:22:12 AM »
I know, I know, what am I, a Buzzsaw (and Roto) guy doing here.  Just wanted to report something I've seen in the last couple of weeks.  We have a pretty heavy handed guy here who has one of these.  Watched him practice on a 39 foot flat pattern, then bowl a tournament on it.  He could make this ball dance; that is, do almost anything.  Alex's main game is to hit the heck out of it and cover boards and he did it with this ball easily. Used it to qualify (about a 204 average on a very tough shot - leader was at 214 or so), then, late in the semifinals of our tournament, with everything drying out, he went straight up the back and reduced the hit.  Put 12 dead flush, from the 10 board, while everyone else was at 4th arrow.  This ball may get me out of Lane #1 and Roto, at least to see what it does in my hands.

Rags: Jeff is correct. My Savage solid (with just about the same core) is my heavy oil ball. I keep it at 400 grit with Burgundy scotchbrite, and the ball can handle just about anything with oil. The core is early revving and very smooth.

I've recently been going with Lane#1, but an Ebonite with the Savage core (solid or pearl) will always be in my bag.

Jeff: You're right -- the same core.
