big one or epic battle
« on: May 23, 2006, 04:45:29 PM »
i am as sick of my big one as i was with my addiction before i stopped using it. and its the exact same scenario. Great ball at first, and then the slow ,but all certain death followed by another 200 dollar dud in my basement. Ball leagues are here and i am wondering if anyone has used both or seen the epic battle and big one used on the same lanes, i have placed the last ebo ball in my arsenal that i ever will, taps to my big one. Its almost like someone switched balls with me after ,and i mean the day after ,i first used it. I have soaked it had it resurfaced and i swear it is a good 20 boards weaker than it was when i bought it, it is totally unforgiving, if you dont throw this thing perfect on the perfect condition u get squat . Its either too wet or too dry its never good enough for this thing ,its worse than my wife.

I enjoyed hearing about your wife in this post...tickled my funny bone...(does she know my wife?)

But how does the Epic Battle weave it's way into this thread?

Oh...I see...

My experience with my balls from other companies...they do not lose 20 boards of hook EVER!  They don't lose more than 19 boards.

I have them listed by company.

Columbia my balls lose only 18.75 boards.
Rotogrip...my balls lose only 18.375 boards of hook.
Storm these balls retain hook like crazy and only lose 15.125 boards of hook.
Brunswick balls lose 18.68 boards of hook.
Hammer balls lose 18.58 boards of hook and
Lanemasters balls gain hook ....1 board a week!

Hope that helps!

REgards,

PS actually I lied above...my balls all hook the same as when I got them....but sometimes the reaction is not as fast off the dry boards.  Also I have noticed if others do the surface work...I've sometimes seen greater degredation than if I do it.

I tend to never use sandpaper on particles and to often use scotch brite or abralon instead.

I've tried the Epic Battle, and the Big One, and all I will say is I own the BIG ONE.  In my opinion, the battle was very finicky, and gave me alot of over/ under.  I have had alot of success with the Big One, and I am not usually a fan of Ebonite.  I usually throw Track, butdidn't like any of their heavier oil equipment.
