I need some info on Ebonite V2 Pearl
« on: December 24, 2003, 11:01:19 PM »
Hi, I've had my V2 Pearl for about a year now, and I am having some trouble with it, my center doesn't oil that much the lanes, but on the first line of tournament I always see the ball rev like crazy but never hooking as it should, I gave it 800 grit and then Factory polish, and still the same, should I only use it on burned out lanes or there's something I could do with it. My other ball is a Complete Chaos! it works ok on that kind of oil, but my vortex is turning to be a last line ball or only practice...

Vince,

Are you very new to bowling?

If so, you have to realize that the oil pattern and amount for a tournament may be different from what you see in your league on a weekly or a daily basis. In fact, I'd be surprised if it weren't always different. One often needs an oiler such as the Chaos to handle heavier oil and a polished pearl, such as the V2, that will skid much longer on oil patterns where the Chaos will hook earlier.

The Chaos and the pearl V2 are a decent 1-2 combinaiton to handle such variations. The 800 grit sand + polish for the V2 is its normal finish from Ebonite. I would keep it that way. In fact, I 'm surrpised you haven't found a condition half way in between the two and on which neither ball really worked well. A lot depends on the oil you encounter and how you adjust.

Thanks Charlest!!!, I've been bowling for 6-7 months, so, I might be what you call a new player, well, I guess for what you told, I should be using my V2 Pearl for the third line on tournament, I see that the oil is not always the same on the tournament, but then again it's always to oily for my V2, and my Chaos is somewhat used... (I bought it used, so I have to give it some maintenance to get it hooking as it should!!!
