Title: Legacy & Source
Post by: Curt_Dupre on December 12, 2013, 09:06:13 AM
EBI staffers or anyone who has both of these: How do these compare? Also anyone put some surface on the Source? Probably going to get both of them just curious as to how they compare.

I think the main comparison everyone has had is that both are pretty clean through the fronts but the Legacy has more backend reaction while the Source stays fairly smooth

I usually use both.  I start he night with the legacy but once it starts grabbing a little early I switch to the source.  they really compliment each other well.

Thank you very much everyone. Will drill them up this week. I appreciate it. Hopefully I can give a review next week or so.

Just ordered them Ric along with a Pivot. Should have them drilled up this week. Looking forward to throwing them. Hearing a lot of good things about these.

I just drilled a Source and Legacy, first Ebonite balls I have had in three years.
Source is drilled 4" pin up put 3000 abralon on it. Shot 780 tonight with it, won $90 side pots with it. Really like what I seen from the Source very smooth with the 3000 abralon.

Legacy has 5" pin up box finish, threw it a few times really strong backend, more to come..

Got a Legacy at the shop getting drilled now. Will pick it up and try it out Monday. Went with a pin down drill to get it rolling a little sooner than the other stuff I have and a strong arc backend. I plan on it to be my benchmark piece. It'll be the first Ebonite ball I've thrown since I had a couple Matrix and Vortex a while back. Looking forward to seeing how it rolls for me!

I've had the Legacy for a couple of weeks now.  Only bowled with it twice (6 games) but I think it's just what I've been looking for.  Chris at your H'ville location drilled it for me and put the pin about 5" from the pap above my ring finger.  Did not change the surface.

Using the ball on medium conditions I am getting great length and a hard snap on the back end.  It fits right over my Columbia Violent Eruption and gives me a great two ball arsenal.  If they put out some heavy oil (which they seldom do) , I've got a Hammer Cold Blood that I think will handle that condition.

I think you'll really like the Legacy on medium oil.

Balldoc finally punched the Source and Pivot so far. Will drill the Legacy tonight. Shot 767 first set with the Source. This ball is very clean. I would say almost as clean as my Eruption Pro. The difference is the mission core being stronger for me allows the ball to start up quicker. Ball definitely hits stupid strong. What I like about it is it didn't miss the spot at all. Now as far as the Pivot I only got to throw about 6 shots with it at the end of the last game. I just wanted to see what it would do. Well this ball is a monster. I was easily 2 arrows left off of the source. Ball hits hard and is very very cotinuous. If you haven't tried an EBI product, definitely try any of the new ones. I will update with how the Legacy rolls tomorrow.
