Magic

I got the Magic two weeks ago and have used it both weeks in league. Here are my impressions so far

Need - the ball does exactly what I need it to do I needed something that I could move further left with and open up the shot some. Winner, winner chicken dinner in this regard. This is 5-6 boards stronger than my Sauce. (Sauce is drilled pin below ring finger). This ball more than handles the oil that I have seen.

Carry - other than shots off pocket, the spare that I have shot at the most is the dreaded 10 pin. Now on most of the shots that I have left it, I felt that one was coming. (You know that feeling when you did not catch the ball well, or maybe sent it a bit wide and lost energy on the way back). But the worst two games so far with the ball were the first games both weeks. With the backends fairly fresh after 10 minutes of practice shots. The ball really seems to shine for me in the last two games. Typical moves are a board or two left as the lanes dry out. The carry from the deeper angles for this higher speed medium rev player is better than any ball I have previously had. Very happy here.

Durability - I am kind of a fanatic in this area. I clean what I use after every set with a spinner. I also wipe the ball down with a microfiber towel after shots. So far I like what I see. The ball has rings of oil on it after shots, and it seems not to soak up if you did not wipe it immediately. (After strikes I don't wipe it down until the next shot, lol). On spinning the ball, there is a fair amount of dirt - grime on the towel. I bowl at wood houses. The cover looks new after a total of 8-9 games.

Oh BTW the ball looks great. Mine is a great combination of gold, blue, and black. It was drilled 4 1/2 x 4. Which put the pin above the ring finger, cg just off the center of the palm, and the mb about 1 1/4" from the thumb.

I am surprised I have not read more compliments about this ball in the forum.

Beans sauce if you want to polish it, I refuse to polish mine or adjust the cover, it just rolls too predictable and carries so well.

Hmm..Lets see what I have in this bag...some magic, some hot sauce, and a saw.. how can I loose?

i think i have made a booboo. I just got a magic off ebay and ,by all the accounts i had read it is a better ball than the nvd.
I went to league last night and one of my teamates had one. This is is a 220 avg. bowler and has very ood command of his equipment.I watched this ball skate on this fresh 41 foot house shot and i was shocked. Is this the ball that they say is better than the nvd.better than the vg.I had just polished my nvd and i had much more room than he had on this pattern.More recovery ,better carry, and all i could think was i hope i dont win the bid for mine.UNfortunately I did win ,so now i am wondering if i can sell it and get my money back because from what i saw last night there is no way the magic is stronger than the nvd.
My teamate also has a vg and the magic he was using was a good 4 to 7 boards weaker and it left the 10 pin habitually.I am going to make a better effort at not believing the hype. the next time i want to try something new i am going to take something old and redrill it.Nvd is imho the better ball by far.the nvd gives me a consistent and useable read off the lanes and its carry is phenomenal. If ,when you start leaving pins its time to change and thats the worst part of using it for me,putting it down.

Umm your making this off somebody elses game, release and drilling? The NVD is 3-4 boards weaker then my magic and they were drilled the same way. He must not have it drilled strong enough, or it may have been operator error. If you don't want it, and if its first quality, I know many people would love to buy it. I would drill your own up and try it before you go off what you saw with your teammate!

From the Magic I have thrown/watched people throw, it is anything but skid/flip. It is all midlane with a strong arc. I might even say it would be better polished but that is just from the ones I have watched. BTW, they all had strong drillings on them. A 6" pin to axis might actually flip a little harder.

I really didn't like mine all that much until I hit it with the scotch brite pad.. If you aren't satisfied with it's reaction in oil or having problems with corner pins, I highly suggest adjusting the surface. Mine instantly came alive and was at least 5 boards stronger with better continuation. Try it.. you might like it.

wow, that is scary, mine is real strong in box condition, it would nuts to imagine it 4 boards stronger.

Drilled on with a RICO drilling for my wife who lacks hand (like most women).
She absolutely loves it so far.  It starts rolling much sooner than on old infinite one she has and never stops.  Gives her error room she hasn't had much of to this point.
