Big Time Sanded or Xcel Particle???
« on: April 11, 2006, 05:38:56 AM »
I have an Xxcel that is perfect on medium conditions. I can easily bowl in the 170 range just by heaving the ball at the head pin in any wreckless manner. Unfortunately, when the lanes start to dry up, it begins to head brooklyn, and any attempt at changing starting point, release or ball speed usually causes it to ram into the head pin leaving nasty splits. As it is a medium-heavy ball, I've thought about purchasing the Xcel particle. I'm hoping it will deliver the same length and powerful back end, on lighter conditions. What puzzles me however is that according to the Ebonite site, it reacts sooner than the Xxcel, and Xxxcel, yet has the same hook rating. Does this mean it will have a longer arc, and less of a backend snap? If I like the Xxcel, and want a similar ball for drier conditions would I be better off with the Xcel particle or Big Time Sanded? Thanks.

I have both, XXcel and Xcel. When the lanes start to dry, oil move more than I want to, I'll pull out the Xcel and have almost the same reaction as my XXcel. The 'book' says they won't, but the way mine are set up, my release, it's a great one two punch.

I have introduced the Hawg Wild into the mix and don't use the Xcel much anymore, but when I did, those two worked great together. Keep in mind, if you have dry lanes, it'll hook off the lanes, it is NOT a dry lanes ball, but a super med to medlight ball, or it was for me.

Hope that helped.

My Xxcel is drilled Pin just above and right of ring cg directly below. I am a low-med rev bowler with average ball speed. Most of the time I can keep the Xxcel under control, but some nights it just goes brooklyn. I just purchased an Xcel, and can't wait to get it punched up.
