New Balls Up On Wesite...
« on: May 16, 2005, 05:20:42 AM »
www.ebonite.com has the new balls up. The XXXcel looks awesome in my opinion, the color and the newish core. Can't wait to get my hands on one of these...

Cross fire looks a lot like a Cougar or a Solid polished version of a
Puma.  If I remember a pretty good bowler name of Jeff Carter used to use this thing before he went on his record rampage with the Vortex series!

If I remember he really loved it!

Both were excellent balls.

I kind of like the look and idea of the Black Ice, but I'd really like to know the actual difference between it and the original Ice. The website does not seem to indicate that.

Ice=pearlized Trimax Reactive resin, Black Ice=Solid Trimax reactive resin.  As I have said many times Ebonites descriptions can be misleading, sometimes they describe two balls with same cover and then under the color section mention pearlization, sometimes they aren't even that kind.  This is the definitive difference in the two balls.

Just read the BTM review of Black Ice. (This issue so far has some very unusual reviews. See my comments in Storm and Roto-Grip forums.) It's barely more than the Ice itself. Although a solid, it hardly has the capablites of a medium oil ball, according to their words and numbers. It is smoother, slightly earlier and slightly more backend.

My original thought, once you guys clued me to the fact that it was a solid, a Trimax solid, was, "Oh, great, a strong cover on a highish RG and a low flare differential - one of my favorite combos." Now, I'm like, "Oh, Sh*t!" - very disappointed.

Back to the drawing board, unless reviews of people I trust indicate otherwise. (Yes, it's cheap, but I'm very tired of testing balls.)

the CrossFire is reactive polished pearl and the ball is stronger than everyone thinks.  It rolls awesome
