The ONE Bowling Ball
« on: November 28, 2005, 02:10:46 PM »
I am think of buying a ball soon.  I was wandering if you drilled "the one" bowling ball with an increase in flare drilling with as much hook potential as possible with medium length would this be a good choice?  I was just curious.

drill it according to the sticker that comes on the ball, you wont be disappointed.

the mass bias is extremely important on this ball. if your ball driller isnt familiar with your game, he can def make the ball react quite different than expected.

The ball is great if you know what you want it to do and you set it up as such. I wanted mine to go long and turn hard. You know, something to move inside with and open up the lane. With the drilling that I have, the ball fits that bill perfectly. Just remember, though, like any ball, you have to have it set up properly if it's going to match your game.

I now have 2 of these balls, and they are drilled quite different.

I drilled them both with the pin under the bridge because I didn't want them to skate down the lane forever.

On one the mb is 2-2.5 inches right of the thumb, this ball commits to its roll early and creates a break points about 3 feet sooner than my other one with the mb under the thumb.

The one under the thumb goes longer and is crisp off the break, where as the one with the mb at the 45 degree angle is skid midlane read then hook style roll.

The One with the mb out did not need a weight hole, the one with the mb under did need one.. We popped a med size hole but only an inch deep 4.5 over and .5 up like the drilling suggested.

Although the 2 balls react slightly different, they both have more back end than most rap videos I've seen.

Okay I bought a The One....After seeing it carry so much crap and seeing some pros use it in Hammond I bought it...Now let me first say I HATE HATE Ebonite equipment usually.  The last good ball I think was for me the Black Omega LM.  After putting a little surface on the ball, this ball is amazing. Shot 744.  The breakpoint is sharp but very controllable. Would recommend the ball to anyone....

Have not got mine yet but what i think seeing it in action it will be a great ball. But watch out for the mass bias it is very important i do agree with Paul on that one.

Not putting a downer on this post, but I want to put two sides to a review.  I drilled this one up and it did not have the backend for me that I've been reading.  It was medium strong with a consistent backend and ok hit.  It was not the messiah of balls for me.  Just my 2 cents.

this was my first ebonite ball ever.  Let me just say I took the Long and strong drilling and wow is all I can say. Goes forever and goes ape on the backend.
