Endure, Perservere, Elevate, what's the difference?
« on: January 01, 2013, 07:40:29 AM »
Same covers, same cores, same numbers from the website.  The only differences seem to be the OOB finish of the balls.  Assuming all had the same surface prep, do think Ebonite really put out 3 of the same balls in different colors all in the midprice range?  Or is there something that I'm missing when looking at all of these just off of specs?

The Elevate is actually a different (well, slightly) coverstock from the other 2. If I had to guess, I'd say the Endure wasn't getting the sales it should, more due to the cover color than anything else. Not sure why both the Endure and the Persevere remain on the Ebonite current sales listing.

I'd suspect the difference between the Endure/Persevere and the Elevate is very similar to the difference between the Too Reckless and the original Reckless. BJI said that when the 2 Recklesses had the same drilling and the same surface, they reacted identically.

Also remember that people like us, here at Ballreviews, are very different from the vast majority of bowlers, league and tournament. Most bowlers will never think once about changing the surface of a ball, NOT ONE SINGLE TIME, no matter what the driller or the Pro shop guy says. To their mind, the Elevate and the Endure are 2 completely different balls, as are the Too Reckless and the Reckless. I think they believe you cannot even make them the same.

Short hand answer, there really isnt. As you said, outside of box finish, which would make the Endure a bit earlier, but other than that....... I asked myself the same question. But my man Brian who's on EBO staff says the Perservere is a REALLY good piece to have in your bag.
Dee, is EBO what you're throwing now? Thought you would be a StormTrooper? ;)

The Endure and Persevere have a stronger cover on them than the Elevate. The Endure and Persevere are the same outside of box finishes. I can see the Endure and Elevate going out though to make way for something new

Good info so far.  I actually haven't thrown a ball since probably April/May.  I still have some Brunswick and Ebonite stuff from 2011, but I'm not satisfied at all with the fit of those balls so I'll probaly junk/donate them since they didn't move in the for sale forum.  I'm looking to start practicing soon and maybe getting into a summer league, then getting competitive again next fall.  So my plan is to stock up some NIB equipment, then start drilling and practicing in the spring.

Thanks for all the input so far.

Ok, well it great you're jumping back in and doing it the right way. The sport could use a voice of reason. If you are using grips and slug go turbo duo urethanes and nub grips. I was using all vise EZ stuff and I too was struggling with fit. The slugs are easier to cut and bevel and they feel amazing as well as the nubs. My !Q Tour Pearl is about the most comfortable ball I've ever drilled for myself.

The shortest and easiest answer is this, The Endure and Persevere both look identical on paper spec wise, the difference again is the the blend of the coverstocks from what I understand. I asked this at a ball demo a couple months back when the Persevere was set to hit the market.

The trend lately seems to be hybrids, where the difference is from what Im told is the Endure has more solid than pearl, not a 50/50 blend, with the Persevere having more pearl than solid blend, when you look at both balls side by side you will definitely be able to tell the difference. As for the bowler, the Endure most times will be earlier and mover even in nature, where the Persevere will be a tad longer and more pronounced on the backend.

This is one area that from my dealings with customers in the shop is the most confusing for folks shopping the Ebonite brand, alot of folks like to know wether they are purchasing a solid, pearl or a hybrid, and when they go to the site and pull up balls, all they get is a generic description on coverstocks. Just my two cents..hope this somehow helps....
