Primal Instinct: A Boat Anchor or a Decent Ball?
« on: June 22, 2005, 06:55:44 AM »
Since I've heard vastly different opinions on the review section, I figured I'd take it out here. I know the ball didn't live up to its specs and all, but what did you like or didn't like about this ball. I'm pretty much looking for a medium to medium-heavy oil ball that can be smooth and predictable off the dry. How about it?

I use 14lbs. Does the Obsession have a smooth breakpoint or at least real controllable in medium/heavy with fairly strong backends?

On fairly strong backends?  No!  It chases the pocket.  I had one 2nd hand.  PIn about an inch from ring at 2 o'clock position.  MB at thumb 7 o'clock.  would be a 135 degrees drill.  On strong back ends the breakpoint is still smooth, but after the ball breaks it make a very strong move for the pocket.

It is a very good ball, I purchased another one and might get a third.... I just don't know if it fits your needs.  You could drill it tamer.

Things that you might want to know:

1 it is the earliest rolling ball in the line (when it was released anyways)

2 particle cover

3 very revy ball

hope to have helped

I'm pretty sure the PI would hook more, but i want it to be really for dry, breaking down lanes, and then have the trooper for thrashed lanes.

You do know that the PI is supposed to be for Medium to Heavy oil right?  It's not particle, so maybe you'll be able to polish it up a little.

I have an opportunity to get a Apex Obsession. Which ball would be better fitted for condition stated earlier? Primal Instinct or Obsession?

As of right now, I think I'm leaning towards the Obsession. Thanks for all your input. If anyone else has an opinion, please share.

I have a team mate who has a primal instinct.  We been bowling together for 30 weeks, 2 houses.  I have two obsessions.  Obsession is stronger ( about 25%?).  If they were sisters, the PI would be the staid one, the obsession would be the racier -- LOL!!!  Hope that helped.

the pearl one is awesome. I thought the sanded one was garbage and the Primal Instinct was a pretty versitle ball.
