I bowled against a guy 3 weeks ago who had a Vortex V2 that made him look really good... I haven't seen any others pop up and no buzz... Very little on YouTube, in fact nothing I would trust as of now.
Anyone rolling one?

It's a full 2 arrow move left from a Gamebreaker for me. About a 4-5 board move left off a Chaos, and earlier/more continuous than a Futura.
It's a very strong cover and at the OOB grit it will be in the top end of overall hook in your bag. It's not early and pukey like other big balls when there's not enough oil, it just turns into TOO MUCH HOOK and can't stop going through the face when it's not enough oil or the pattern is too short.
It's a bit more aggressive than a fresh cover Phase 2, not as early as an IDOL, but in that same class of heavier volume symmetric option.

Whew, that's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for and closer than I thought (I'm looking for symmetric a bit stronger than my favorite Phaze 2 and a bit early... Left of a Gamebreaker describes the hole I want to fill really well. Thanks for the info!

You're welcome. FWIW Mine is 5 1/4" Pin high which puts it about 1 1/2" above my ring finger. Out of the 12 balls I have, 9 have this layout as well as the balls I mentioned so it's a direct comparison.

I do not have one yet but what sold me was watching a few people throw this ball at a qualifier at the ITRC and have more area then most.
I had seen it used previously by a few in league and it looked really good. But to see it on that kind of volume and a 2-1 ratio and still react the way it did is what sold me on it. Definitely a tournament bag ball or must have for Nationals.

I have one NIB just might have to drill it for tougher patterns.

Agree with above comments.
Had one early on and just didn't drill it when everything went down.
Eventually did a pin up layout and oofda, plenty strong and continuous.
Found one for $165 drilled locally and went pin down.
Definitely a Nationals ball or balls for me.
It was to be a special limited edition roll-out and the timing of the sale made it a non used piece, all the staff was in limbo and no real direction for the Hopkinsville balls - from the new ownership (not unexpected with that size of a transition)
One of the last EBI made USA pieces...

Dave, did you see a lot of difference pin up vs pin down on this particular piece? I just found one with a 1.5 inch pin, but thinking that doesn't matter any more, so might pick it up

High pin is noticeably stronger downlane IMO
The low pin is a little sooner and a little less shape downlane
I have a hard time using either of these at factory surface for very long, I just don’t see the volume needed for that
I’ve polished the low pin and it was a tad responsive on a flatter condition I tried it on
The Futura was better that day.
Next time out will have a little scuff to it
