Bowling Alley = Sea Bowl in Pacifica, California
Date Shot = Thursday December 8, 2005
Games on Ball @ Date of Taping = 6
Lane Type = Synthetic
Oil Patttern = 2nd Shift Top Hat Medium-Heavy tapered to gutter, clean backends with some carrydown from a Men's Trio's Scratch League.

How the lanes played: Ok, what I've been hearing about this ball is that it clears the heads with ease. I totally agree with that. At 4000 Grit Polish Out Of Box, this puppy practically ignores the heads! (I'll update you when I use it on drier/burnt heads). With the Top Hat pattern, I couldn't get this ball to push at 35-40 feet if I started my ball in between the 2nd and 1st arrow. Any hint of drier boards, this ball would want to change direction!

I had to chase the oil line around 15-20 (3rd and 4th arrow) and feed it into dry boards in the last 15-20 feet. This was the only way to get the ball to Push. Once this ball touched dry, there was no turning back. I also noticed if I kept the ball in the oil line too long, it would skid and react too late in the back. Naturally, I was targeting a breakpoint farther down the lane (the 5-8 boards at about 45 feet)

From what I hear on the boards, many users have had success making surface adjustments to their "One" by hitting it with a 2000 or 1000 Abralon/Scotch-Brite to get the ball to read better on Slicker Conditions. I have a Delta that can handle Heavier conditions, so I might just stick with the "Long & Angular Backend reaction" I get out of my Polished OOB "One."

Nothing was held back in this video. I show you the good, bad & ugly shots. High Hits, Washouts, Strikes, you name it. Once I made the adjustments to get to the pocket and got comfortable with the ball (only 6 games on this thing when Video was shot on 12/08/05!) it had tremendous hitting and carrying power.

Compared to my Track Delta 1 : I moved right with my feet about 4 boards with the Delta and squared up to the pocket, while I opened it up with the One. The Delta was very even and heavier rolling (Not as snappy at 900 grit) and had just as much hitting power. I was able to open the shot up a little more with "The ONE," as naturally I moved left of where I started with the Delta. I see the Delta for Heavier conditions as it tends to roll a little earlier than "The One"

I will definitely keep you all updated on its' progress...

Hope you guys enjoy it and if you have any questions, feel free to hit me up!

Take er' easy,
Ram

Ramtart--With this amount of work you need to be on the BR paid staff.....sheesh man.  Now, I can see why Nicanor is having trouble with this ball on a THS.

Nice video.  I really would have liked to have seen it compared to some other stuff you have.  Some people in my league use this ball.  They get a similar reaction, but not as strong overall.  I was impressed with it in the hand of one guy.  After all, he was using it in the third game when I've pulled out my red pin zone classic (med-light ball).  As you might guess it was rolling out, visually but still somehow had decent power at the pins.

LMAO I love the music track, it perfectly parallels all of the trials and tribulations that we often have to overcome in a new relationship in order to work in perfect harmony. ;-)How many games did it take you to record all of those splits? I'm thinking about The One when the price goes down a little, but I've also got my eye on the XXXcel still. I may go for The One because of it's looks.

scotts33 - Thanks man. Ah, it's nothing, I don't mind the reviews. I figure I would construct them the way I would want to see them. I just try to gather as much info as I can so people don't have to guess what's going on. Visuals help too...

D Pat - Thanks man, we'll shot some more again when I see you at Rick's. We can do side by side shots haha.

Greg T - Yeah, I only have about 11-12 games on this ball now. Factory polish on the Track Area is pretty much wearing off. The hitting power of this ball is great once it's around the pocket. Can't wait to use it on different conditions and see what it can do...

chango - Long time no see or talk man? How are ya? Still bowling tournaments?

Andy - I did take a shot with my Track Delta 1 on the left lane. I'm making a shot comparison vid with the Delta compared to The One. Comparison Vid coming soon. I will try to throw more balls side by side so you all can get an idea of diff. breakpoint shapes and movement downlane.

Tony - Hehe, thanks man. I thought Shania would be a fun choice and would kinda throw people off. I just wanted to have fun with it...even threw in her picture at the end hehe...BTW, yeah, lyrics are kind of ironic eh? After all the splits and high hits, I was able to get some strikes out of it! We bowled 5 games and I was only only able to capture an "X" amount of shots before the camera died.

Ace38 - Thanks! Will work on more vids soon.

Take it easy guys & gals!

Hey Ram,

Nice Vid. Even though I am not a fan of Ebonite, that ball looks sweet in your hands. You have a very nice, solid game. Smooth release too!!

I love the music selection for that vid, had me crackin' up.

Great job man.

Ryan (rock77) *Hey Pedro, you gonna eat your tots?* Haha, thanks for the comments man, still workin' on that slide and on a less controlled armswing.

DP3 - Thanks brotha! I was going to use "Busta Rhymes Music," but you already did that!

More vids to come including Side By Side vids with other balls in my arsenal by request.

Thanks!

wow!!

once you figured it out that is awesome!!

however.....what is ebonite thinking....4000 abralon PLUS,...factory polish !?!
why advertise for a great cover, etc, etc,.....then go 4000 + polish!

Just seems stupid to me.....no offense Ramtart....nothing to do w/ you...

Funny thing is,....i'm kind of interested in this new cover/core combo.....so if I were ever to get this ball.....I'd IMMEDIATELY scuff that bad boy!!

medium-heavy oil --- 4000 + polish......makes NO sense

That cover is "THAT" Strong.  I've seen someone go 2000 abralon on it and it's easily their "Heavy Oil" piece and this is from a guy with axis coordinates of 3 3/8 right and 3/4 down and a revrate around 275.  It's fun watching him finally be able to wheel the whole lane with something, even while scuffed.  I'm thinking if they ever make a "One" for heavy oil it'll pretty much be the same ball at a much lower finish.  This is one of those great balls that you almost have to have two of since you can get so many different looks from drillings and surface prep.

Hey guys, in regards to the cover prep. I am really curious about bringing it down in the future (maybe 1000 grit abralon first). I'm going to bowl league tonight and get you guys an update if I end up using it and matching up with it.

Take it easy!

Nice video

Most of the ones I have drilled for my costumers have a similar look going down the lane as seen in the video. Only difference is the amount of hook due to style differences.

Personally I have two Ones (slightly different layouts) and they are both really angular on the back end. I wanted something to play our fresh condition (medium-heavy volume, blended) as my Overtime was too much ball when dull but too little when shiny. So I hit one of my Ones with 1000 Abralon. I couldn't get any length with that surface it just started way too early and burned out. Then I took it to 2000 which was better but still on the early side. I ended up with 4000 without polish now it is much smoother than with the box finish and it is great on our fresh condition. The cover is just that strong.

I must say after drilling a lot of Ones for different customers: This ball is the real deal. All of the players love the ball. About half of them have broken some kind of personal record and the rest is "just" scoring slightly higher than normal. Maybe The One just match our condition perfectly or maybe it is just that good?
