Too much info on the web
« on: June 02, 2009, 04:29:50 AM »
To start, I can barely hit the broadside of a barn, but am having so much fun bowling in a beer league that Im ready to get serious. The house closest to me is always dry/burnt. But, there are several others in the area with varying conditions.

I will get a Playmaker based on appearence alone but will pick up something to learn with beforehand. Im thinking of a Bash, but want to know if something may be more compatible w/ a playmaker. Would a Tornado, Scout, Link. etc etc etc match up better w/ a Playmaker while providing a ball to learn with? Im loving this game and would like to eventually become decent enough to compete in scatch leagues and tourneys.

BTW- At my level Im sure my particulars arent in play, but I roll it about 16mph smoothly.

Yet another useless recommendation for a ball that's not released yet nor has barely been thrown even by staffers yet.  But yeah, that would be the perfect ball for this guy.  Good suggestion cheech.

Get the Red/Black Bash. Very good drier land ball(very smooth) and can also double as a spare ball if need be. Will fit nicely under your Playmaker when you get one.

If your going to come on here and jump on people you can at least offer a viable option for him to try.  Otherwise your nothing but a D-Bag.  I would look at the bash or clash.

I forgot to add. How does a Bash compare to an Orbit Extreme? (Blue/Orange) Ive thrown a game with one before. Also I like the looks of teh yellow/purple Bash better than the Red/Black, is that an issue?

Ive been told by different ProShop guys to learn with anything from Plastic(a scout will hook out of the house)to the most hook I can afford. Hence the too much info title. Im ready to learn to bowl. Thanks in advance guys.

The Yellow/Purple Bash has stronger move down the lane than the Red/Black so will give you more backend on those drier lanes. Can't go wrong with either.
Both will fit nicely under the Playmaker.

There are a lot of factors that as repliers on the internet we can not help you. We can make suggestions but your bowling center pro shop operator can watch you throw the ball and knows the lane conditions. The definition of dry is different for different people. I always suggest something smooth for new bowlers so you can get used to the motion of the ball. I have put a lot of games on my Booms and it is a great ball. It releases this week and it looks exactly like the Playmaker so you will like that.

The boom is a very good ball don't get me wrong but it is to strong off the dry. I would recomend the teal clash.

beleive it or not. if you use your brain along with the info that people have and info you get from either staffers or the website, you can make a good estimate of what a ball will do based on the core numbers, line its in and the mini reviews the guys that throw it post.

for example. the boom has a higher RG and is in the same line as the clash and bash. based on the info i have read on ebonites site and reading the staffers' posts on it. i can make a guess that it will be a step up from the clash and bash. it will be smoother compared to the smash and maybe a similar motion to the black vibe

Thanks for teh help guys. Im going to get a Bash, or Mars and learn how to bowl. When I improve, I will get the Playmaker.(when I bowl my first 200). I'll let you know when that happens.
