TPC Warrior ball cleaner and polish
« on: July 18, 2003, 02:00:16 AM »
This is my first post on this site, but I've been lurking for awhile now.  While I've read many great post that provided me with help I was looking for I haven't come across a thread about ball cleaner and polish that provided the information I seek.  I'm looking for any suggestions for cleaners and polish that someone has used that worked on a TPC Warrior.  Cleaners do not have to be from bowling equipment company (ex. Simply Green).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Virtually any cleaner that works on resin balls, will work on pearls, solid, particle solids and particle pearls. Some like Clean N Dull and Hook-It are more for deep cleaning of balls used on a lot of oil. There are too many to list.

The correct forum by the way is Coverstock Preparation. Set your way-back machine (Preferences) to 60 days and enter the CP forum; You'll see a ton of recommendations.

Thanks for the reply, but your reply is the reason why I don't post.  You failed to answer my question, which was for those who have a TPS Warrior.  I know there are a lot of different cleaners and polishers out there, that's why I was asking specifically for help from TPS Warrior owners.

Thanks for pointing out the Coverstock forum, I totally overlooked it.  Seeing that I'm asking about a specific Ebonite ball don't think there's anything wrong where post is at.

If you are looking to increase hook potential of the Warrior then i would suggest that you use a gray scotch brite pad lightly and rough up the surface. Then you can take a polish such as Ebonites Factory Finish and polish the ball a little bit at a time. What i mean is polish it with very light pressure for a short period of time and then go throw it. Repeat the process until you have "tweaked" it to exactly what you want. The factory polish on the Warrior is an older type of polish that was used at the plant and may be a little to slippery for what you are looking for. That is why i reccommend scuffing the surface and starting over.

I beg your pardon. I try to help you and you tell me that?
Unless you think or believe that the coverstock material is something completely different from the past 8-10 years of manufacturing of resin balls, why would think I was leading you astray or saying something wrong or intentionally misleading.

Again, why do you think the Warrior is something that needs cleaning is way different from every other resin ball made?

My previous 2 questions indicate I do not think I am wrong, in the help I tried to give you. If someone can show me how I was wrong, I will gladly withdraw and apologize.

Note that Jeff Carter, an Ebonite staffer, says the cover stock polish is an old one, but he does not say there is anything different in its coverstock's chemical composition!

I've played around with my Warrior a bit.  The factory polish was great when I got it, but then it started to slide too much because the lanes got oiled a little heavier.  I used the gray scuff pad and it started hooking enough once more.  Then the lanes got a little drier again so I used the Factory Finish and shined it up, but it was too much.  Tried the Matte Finish and it was too dull.  Used the Factory Finish again but lighter and it worked well.  I've been using the Energizer cleaner and a white scuff pad together to loosen the stuff on the cover and then recleaning with the Energizer cleaner and paper towels.  This seem to give a pretty good reaction for my conditions.  About once every month I toss the ball into a five gallon bucket and cover it with hot water and Dawn dish washing soap for about ten minutes, then repeat it and rinse it off.  It makes the ball a little more agressive in the hook even with the same finish.

Listen to the man 10 pin.  reactives usaully take the same clearner regardless of brand.  and in your case model.

from your statement, i am assuming you have used cleaners and it didn't work.  could be the procedure.  or might even be the surface.

and I beg to differ, this should be in the coverstock section.

lastly, this is not to put off you from posting.

Thanks Jeff and Splitz for the suggestions.

Charlest didn't mean to get off on the wrong foot, just looking for more specific information from someone with a Warrior and what they used.

HI Doc Dre
To Clean my TPC Warrior, I use rubbing Alcohol with a Gray pad and works just great. For More re-action (if I need it) I use the Red pad
