Verdict Pearl Sanded?
« on: February 17, 2018, 01:14:06 AM »
Has anyone sanded their verdict Pearl? Would sanding a pearlized version of a ball give it more backends than the solid version? I'm looking for a ball to handle more oil and have a lot of backends. I like the shape the verdict Pearl makes, but the original verdict doesn't have the same pop. Thoughts?

I did not like the reaction of my Ebonite Warrior [GB13.3 Pearl cover] in the out of box finish.  It was way too long.  So I resurfaced it to 500/1000 siaair and then hit it with crown compound.  The ball really woke up and has been a beast ever since.  It is definitely earlier and more continuous through the pins.

Ball companies like to say that a modern pearl can handle heavier oil and provide aggressive backend, but I have never found that to hold true.  Ebonite considers the Verdict Pearl a step down from the Verdict.  Sanding the Verdict Pearl will most likely give you a reaction virtually identical to the Verdict solid.

Yes, it would backend more than the OG Verdict. Would thst be your best move? Idk. Since you like the shape it makes but want more traction in oil, might as well try to break the surface. The Paradox Black probably offers the most shape downlane with a good amount of traction out of the box.

Some of the best balls I have own were and are sanded pearls. They still get a great push through the heads and can handle more oil. Back in the day Messenger Titanium 800 grit Today Brunswick Fanatic pearl 800 grit, 2 of the best I have owned

Have you seen the Rip'd hybrid?
Its plenty shiny and rolls plenty early in the oil
a beast on the back end as well
