Title: VORTEX TOO STRONG
Post by: K_Korner on June 02, 2003, 05:45:38 PM
Holy cow, does this thing hook!  Got my striking effects ball yesterday.
Pin 3" out, top weight 2 1/2, drilled 4x4 leverage, weighthole down to 0 side weight.  Med-High speed bowler and a good amount of revs.
Threw it on a gutter to gutter, 40ft of oil, wood lanes, tough shot condition. Was hoping this ball would be controllable on this condition.
I couldn't get far enough left, even after 3 games when the oil carried down.
Hits hard when you get in the pocket (like most Vortex balls).
This ball will probably be excellent for low rev players on house conditions.
Did anyone else try this ball yet?

The Vortex solid is a very versatile ball.  Have you tried polishing the ball for more length and less overall hook?  I can use my Vortex in medium-light to heavy oil conditions, by adjusting the coverstock of the ball.  I throw medium speed and medium revs and don't have any trouble controlling the ball reaction.

We are still waiting for our striking effects package of balls to show up.  We'll let you know if one of the shop guys decide to punch up the strong.

Got a little literature from a Rep yesterday saying the V2 strong would be  Ebonites strongest ball in their line-up this year, they are trying to finally make a good heavy-oil ball.

Thanks for the ideas on the V2 Sanded, but I hate to polish dull covers.  I might as well buy a polished or pearl ball to get that effect.  I like to keep dull balls dull, shiny balls shiny, and pearlized balls pearlized.
I won't polish the V2 Strong, its made for oil, i will wait for oil (I might have to move to the middle east though:cool. Thanks for the input.
