What's the diff between the two Shooters?

I don't mean the XL...why did they release this ball twice with different colors?

I beleive the first run Shooter had a VERY HIGH tendency to crack.

Which one came first the lighter or darker one?  If they used the same cover stock why would the second one be less likely to crack?

If im not mistaken the lighter shade was released first and thats the one that lends itself to cracking.
