Total NV: I found the cause of bad carry (for me)
« on: February 14, 2007, 03:11:31 AM »
In a new house this year, synthetic, with a shot that seems like long oil, huge out-of-bounds and extreme carrydown... basically nothing but oil week after week!!  On top of that, pins seem to be weighted - very hard to knock down in comparison to many other alleys.........

First, none of my bowling balls have a distinct break point on this condition EXCEPT for my Total NV, very distinct.

Second, the TNV holds so much energy down the lane that I still haven't gotten used to it, hard to imagine a ball that dynamic, holding THAT MUCH ENERGY!

Conclusion: Pins don't stand a chance, even here!  Anyone notice the "crack" noise when the TNV hits the pocket? It doesn't sound like a regular strike, it's like a really hard crack at the pins as if they all were hit at the exact same time - one REAL LOUD crack.

and one last note, I found that the absolute BEST place to let the ball break is very close to the pocket.  When I give it room, it leaves wierd stuff, like 7-10s, 6-7s, 10s and 8s.  But when I "wrap" the ball around the pocket.... great results!!  I have tried wrapping straight up 12, and also playing deep swinging no further than 10.
BTW, from experience from other balls that continue arcing THRU the pocket, I AM NOT looking for high-flush, thats when the wierd stuff happens - seemingly perfect shots get unrewarded by leaving... stuff.  I'm looking to hit the pocket a little flatter, pins still don't stand a chance - don't forget we're still talking about a ball that holds more energy than anything else out here.  How else can you explain a ball that is 4000-grit POLISHED that NEEDS oil?!?

I've experienced this a couple times with my Thunderstruck Solid with the one really loud crack.  I've never heard this before from me or other bowlers even when bowling out or in league.  I am not sure what I was doing to make it happen.

I know, wrong forum but I have been wondering about this myself.
