i mostly bowl on pba & sport shots, but one of leagues i bowl in is a regular house shot. Lately i have been tearing it up, 300-792/781/751 for the last 3 weeks. (ive also been taking some lessons to stay sharp since the west region is off for the month of Feb.)
but the Xcel's ive got are too hot to put in the bag. the pearl and the particle both are what ive been looking for since i switched over from Brunswick. my pearl is drilled with the pin under the finger, and the cg out ( 5 in weight hole) fresh off the press i threw the first 17 strikes before a swisher 7.. and the particle ( pin above bridge, bomb right of thumb) allows me to play the same part of the lane as the pearl as long as i keep my wrist flat.
right now these 2 are my " go to " balls! also my new v2 strong has been very good to me.
what are yours?

Paul - have you left the particle in box finish?

btw my "favorite" Ebonite ball at the moment is my V2 Pearl, for about the same reasons you're liking the Xcel's.

Original Apex. Super versatile ball for me. Works w/ different speeds, releases, angles, wood or synthetic.

yes i have. i like to have a really strong ball that i can play with a flat wrist. this way i know the ball will hook no matter what. after bowling 20-30 games over the weekend, i get tired. i can do less to the ball and get the same type of reaction.
also bowling on the fresh its better to play straighter/flatter.

I have the XCEL Particle and the Primetime Sanded although lately I have been using only the XCEL. it's an extremely strong ball. I too have left in box condition because I throw with alot of speed. Both balls have worked very well for me. Ebonite's balls are the best!!!!

I have two V2 Sanded's. One is in box finish, pin below ring and cg to the right that I really like for oil. The other is pin below ring and cg is stacked and it is polished. I just started using this one as I picked it up used from here and it works great on our house shot. I have thrown a 300 and 299 in 9 games with it. I threw a different ball in my first game one night the other week and switched to the polished V2 for the second and had 300/707 and haven't put it away since. Had a 299/746 this week and 748 last week. I really like the versatility of the V2 to work dull and polished and also like the way it reacts to release adjustments.

primal instinct - just rolls and hooks.... no over under, no skid snap
tomahawk high torque - nice revin, hard arching controllable hard hitting ball...
like the tomahawk the best, even more than my infernos....

you can laugh at the way i bowl but i will be the one laughin when i am takin your money

My favorite by has been the V2 Sanded, but I drilled an Xcel Particle, and I think I might retire the V2 and only drill Xcels.
I have both the Pearl and Particle, and they both roll REALLY well.
Any one with an above average ball speed should love the Particle on a pattern with some oil, but if the lanes a little burnt, the Pearl is perfect!
Can't wait for the XXcel and the Big Time!
GO EBONITE!

V2 Sanded was good, but the Intensity was my best.

I m surprised that no one has mentioned the V2 Sweet. It personally is my best ball, it is drilled pin below and a tad right of the ring finger, CG directly below, bout 3-4" pin. I absolutely love this ball. I had it scuffed to 600 and it wasnt clearing the heads well enough with the ENORMOUS wall my house decided to put up (bone dry outside of 8). I got it hook agained and shinde back up to box finish and it is a gem. I am only 16 and the past 3 weeks I have been averaging 215 since i got this back to box. Other than myself, I havent read any sucess stories, and I am surprised. Granted I am somewhat of a cranker, but this ball seems to carry anything. I dont know, but this ball certainly is the only ball i need, it is so versatile.

Indirectly, I did. The V2 Sweet is basically a remake of the V2 pearl. Both are very good pieces of equipment.

My favorites right now are my V2 Strong and the Savage Flip. Both are great for THS or sport shot. Got an Obsession coming so hopefully I will be able to add it to this list in the near future.

the names Munson, what I am doing is flossing...

The V2 sanded and clean are pieces of art. Work on most any condition gives me great control.
Right now though, it is the Prime time sanded. Have used it five times in league. And I've shot 645, 496(nice right), 615 and my best yet 687 ( had the first 7 and left a solid nine, two more strikes and a weak ten (my fault) though. Have to give this ball a ten. Very consistent yet powerful, keeps the pins low and mixes very well. Best ball $60 bucks can buy.

The player and the xcel particle i have mine shined and it still hooks alot, good ball for carrydown.

right now... my favorite Ebonite ball would be my maxim. It's the first ball that I've owned that I can consistently pick up the 10. Not to mention, it's the only Ebonite ball I have.

While the Omegas are having a break my Crush/R is fun to throw on my house shot! 3x3 hole on PAP to 1/2oz negative side, smoothest arcer i've ever seen!

V2 sanded and v2 clean. Great all around punch for two balls. Will wait on the XXcel particle for a while to see how it holds up but have had rave reviews from customers so far. Pearl is spotty in who likes it and who doesn't

Paul: I don't want to hijack your thread, but I'm curious about something. I watched you tear up the Mission Majors league last year using Brunswick equipment. I remember one week where you went 300-300 the first two games, and got a real bad break the third or fourth frame of the third game; if I remember correctly, you left a 7-10 pocket split. Anyway, with one or two breaks, you could have had a 900 series that night. You were throwing the ball that good.
Anyway, why the switch to Ebonite? Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Ebonite fan myself. But given the success you were having with one line of balls, the switch is interesting.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
