Title: Whirlwind and Cross FIre, the same ball?
Post by: Jzero on December 12, 2006, 11:17:49 AM
Are these ball the same exact balls just different colors.  I was looking at the whirlwind on the ebonite web site and decide to compare it to the other balls in the ebonite line and I noticed something very interesting.  According to the ebonite web site the whirlwind has the same exact cover and weight block as the Cross Fire, the Dif and RG were the same in both balls, as well as the description of the weight block.

So, are they the same thing?

Answers would be appreciated because I am also looking at the whirlwind for a dry/ soft lane ball, since I bowl on hard synthetics and all of my current stuff over reacts on softer lanes.

The Whirlwind is a completely different giant.  And I do mean GIANT.  Definately not for the dry stuff.

Crossfire has a pearl coverstock.
Whirlwind has a solid coverstock.

There is a noticeable difference in the balls' reactions with the WW being MUCH stronger than advertised.  You will need some oil on the lanes for the WW.

BTW, I consider both balls highly underated.  The releases of the ONE line balls overshadowed their releases.  Excellent bang for the buck on both balls.
