XXCELent Taste
« on: March 17, 2005, 05:42:27 AM »
Wow, we had a "mini" demo day at World Class Pro Shop yesterday with the XXCEL, XCEL particle, and XCEL pearl and I was extremely impressed.  I threw the XXCEL first.  It was pretty dull and the backends were pretty dirty (what else is new at CAP) and this ball made such a strong turn into the pocket that I decided I would have to check out the other equipment as well.

The XCELL particle was strong in the midlane and pretty even in the back, but it was not as dull as the XXCEL... I think it had self-polished quite a bit from being tested.  It still hit really well.  I still want to try it with different surfaces.

I did not have a chance to really compare the pearl to the others (mainly because I kept throwing the XXCEL the whole time!!!) but I think that I had about 4 boards between each ball.

It was a treat to be able to throw these balls without purchasing them.  I had moved away from Ebonite because I thought it would be impossible for them to come out with anything even close to their Cat Series and Vortexes but I think the XCELs are something special.  I am glad Ebonite has come up with a way for us to test drive the equipment.

Any other equipment I should try?  I usually do better with lower RGs.  Also, since I have been away for so long, what would be an ideal 5 or 6 Ebonite arsenal these days?  Thanks!  Looking forward to it!

If you like the LOW rg stuff, the V2 Sanded is an absolute MUST!

The Big Time is also a great ball.

Any in the V2 line maybe with the exception of the clean but its for med-dry anyway. Even the Big time rolls pretty early. If you like the XXcel you might want to try the Big Time. A mid-price med-heavy dream boat. Like butch said you have to try at least one V2 sanded. I love all of mine (now have 3) with polish to save enegy because of my Pap coordinates but in tougher conditions they have never left me with unplayable reactions.

I had a V2 sanded and a V2 particle and I LOVED them both.  I really don't remember getting rid of them for any reason other than the fact that they were beat to death from use.

What about the V2 Stong/R and the Sweet.  How do they compare to the Sanded?

V2 strong is another real good tough or med-heavy sport condition ball. It reads and reacts without losing control. Probably why it didn't sell that well for us because the "House shot" does not magnify the contours of the pattern and mistakes of the bowler. This ball is smooth and not a mega-hooker for movement. The sweet is very funny for me. I had tried 2 of a close friends and didn't match up as well as some other med-oil pearls. I never matched up to the original v2 pearl either so nothing lost or gained. The sweet revved up early but just didn't give me the hook shape anticipated or needed. This is all probably due to my 6" PAP with minimal tilt and speed. Have seen guys with lower tracks especially crankers love this ball. For people such as yourself these balls are great tournament pieces along with Freak-a-zoid which also is a very low RG ball. They just read and react consistantly.

I did not like my SWEET to much, but you really can't go wrong with the V2 Sanded.

You can drill them to do just about any thing.
