xxcel/ Is there a better ball?
« on: March 14, 2006, 01:19:08 AM »
The xxcel is one of the best bowling balls that I have seen in years. This ball is so readable that it isn't funny. I got one last Thursday and had it drilled up before league, pin over ring with the cg and mb kicked a little right. I had a 685 that night and last night we don't have near the oil that we do on Thursday so I hit it with a 2000 abralon pad and ended up with a 695 (225,236,234). Man do I love this ball and now they are discontinuing them. It reads much better than my big one and isn't as speed or hand senestive. I guess you can say that I match up really well with this core and coverstock. I have been bowling since the late sixties and this one is a keeper. I sure hope they put that modified scalien core in some more balls.

I love mine. Seems this ball has 'eyes', and will take a wide range of oil. Cover adjusts well.

The only thing I am torm about, I have  Xcel, XXcel...Hawg Wild, Saw Balde. I am slowly moving to Hammer, but just can't let go of the XXcel !

I too love this ball.  Last week I bowled in 5 different houses and they couldn't put enough oil to stop this ball from breaking perfectly in the pocket. However, tonight I couldn't get it to move no matter where I put it on the lane.  It wasn't until the 3rd game when it finally reacted in the backend.
The ball has about 30 games on it.  Is it time to do something to the coverstock?
