Having been away from the game since 1985, I notice a FEW things have changed. So once I got the "feel" back into my game, I went shopping for some updated equipment from the 1980's Brunswick EDGE I had. Ended up getting a Elite Chameleon and a Brunswick Viz-a-ball from an online store and found a pro shop with a good reputation locally to measure and drill them. After first watching me bowl a couple of games with my Edge(225 and 279, lol) and asked jokingly why I got a new ball, we proceeded to drill up the new ones.

Ball weight OOB 15 lBS 10 oz (i.e. 16# ball?) Top weight 3.0 oz. 4 in pin.
Fingertip drill. Pin is 1 inch above and to the right (NE) from the ring finger. I am 6' 5", 250 lb (yep should go on a diet, lol), right handed and a stroker style, preferring the down and in shot from the 3 to 8 boards controlling the start and amount of hook by ball speed (my ball speed ranges from 14.5 to 16.8 mph)and loft. With this drilling the ball holds through the head and then finishes strong and sharp. At that particular house I could still keep the straight down the 5 board and snap at the end. As he told me I would start seeing the need to move inside to the left as the lanes broke down. Not unlike when I was bowling in the 70's and 80s, but it happens much quicker and I needed to move further inside and more aggressively. I score well with this ball on either the inside or outside THS. One house is the straight down inside the second arrow and another house shot with this ball is more of an inside out (bellying the ball) shot out between the 2nd and 3rd arrows out to about 5 to 8 board and it WILL come back hard.

Overall I am please with this ball for medium oily patterns. Have not had the chance to roll it on very heavy oil yet but would think outside or an outside to inside shot with speed control would do the trick. For the dryer conditions I don't have the ball speed to hold a consistent deep inside shot with this ball and go back to my urethane Edge for that or use the Viz-A ball (spare ball) which now that is is tracked up a little has a little hook at the end.
