One of my teammates has an Elite Alien. He is none too happy with it. He feels that the cover and the core are battling each other when he rolls it down the lane and he never sees the reaction he wants from it. I have suggested he try to trade it for any offer he may get just because it has to mess with your head a little every time you grab a ball you know you don't like.
Have any of you felt the same way about a ball? What did you do about it?

Did your friend try different surface? Think about P&R with diff layout?
I owned a Sonic X pearl that I hated, but I had it redrilled and a little wet sanded and it became my fav ball on THS for a long time....

First of all, either the bowler or the driller has to understand what the ball is, what it is designed to do with the stock surface, how it can be drilled for your release and for the oil pattern you are facing. Unless you get off on the right foot, you are lost.
I start with this because there were 6 or 8 different "Aliens". The original Green and Blue ones were made by Brunswick with different combinations of their existing coverstocks and cores. Then there were Purple, Black and Red Aliens made by 900Global, with varying combinations of their cores and covers. The 900G made ones were some of the strongest symmetric cored balls made at the time.
From your (or his) expression, "the cover and the core are battling each other", I would suggest that he either has the wrong drilling or the wrong surface for this ball to be used on the oil pattern. This might be a case of not understanding what this particular ball (whichever of the various Elite Aliens he has) was designed to do and how it needed to be drilled or surfaced for his game.
