Title: My elite black... is blue...
Post by: uberamd on February 12, 2008, 09:33:12 AM
So I have my Elite Black label, I love the way it works, however it is blue. Yeah, blue, not black. The site I purchased the ball from indicated "Pilot balls may have slight superficial blemishes that will not affect performance."

I personally consider an entire different ball color more than a slight blemish. It does not impact performance, however it is also not a slight blemish; to me anyway.

I emailed elite asking if that was intended, and they said "The balls released in March will not have a color blemish.  Have a wonderful day!"

You know what I think? Seems like they accidentally made a bunch of blue elites and not black ones so they are trying to unload them on the public. That seriously seems to be the case. The whole 'pilot' program seems like a cover-up to get these incorrectly produced balls out while making a profit, and not losing tons of money tossing them away. Just my 2 cents. I love the ball anyway.

It's not extremely unusual for a black reactive ball to not actually be black.  If you've seen the plug mixing charts for balls like the Danger Zone, the recipe is mostly purple.

Yeah, however Elite said the final ones would not look like that. Also, look at the picture on the site: http://www.bowling.com/images/products/large/BLKLBLPILOT.large.jpg

Mine is all black just undersized i would take a blue one anyday of the week and be happy, you could be stuck with a undersized one like most of us are getting.

Look at a Danger Zone in black light and it actually looks purple. I always thought that ball was fairly purplish in color.
