Hey everyone,
I just wanted to know if any of you knew if the Black claaw Hammer was a Reactive resin or Urethane bowling ball. My has an 11 lb. and is wanting something that hooks less for her. She throws fairly slow with an 11 lb ball so I was thinking the XXXl would work for her since it is still a plastic ball. But if the Claw is a reactive then I might try a urethane for her instead.
Thanks in advance,
Kalannar

The only claws that I know of that were urethane are the purple and red pearl ones.
Most of the ball companies now have 3-piece urethane balls. You just pick solid or pearl.
Some examples: Columbia Scout - black solid and red pearl, Brunswick Groove - blue solid and cranberry pearl, Hammer - red pearl.
At 11 lbs. most balls are pancake cores anyways, so a solid 3-piece will hook a bit more than a pearl.

Unless you're talking about an 11lb. Black Hammer urethane. The 11 & 12 pound balls were the 'hammer-lite' series and had elliptical cores. These were a little bit more 'dynamic' than the standard pancake core (although how much difference that's gonna make at that weight is very debatable). These are hard to find now, but do pop up on ebay occasionally.

At BBR the following claws are listed.
REACTIVE
Blue Pearl
Fire
Ice
Ocean
Teal
Tiger
URETHANE
Red Pearl
Purple
The black pearl claw is not listed on BBR but it is on the approved ball list
on bowl.com. It doesn't say if its a reactive or urethane. Maybe someone else
will know ????

I forgot about the logos. If it has a circle with a R in it then its a reactive.

Hammerfan,
Yes, it does have the circle R on it. She was looking for a little lighter ball than her maxim that she has and the pro shop had these for about 50 bucks drilled at the time. I didn't know anything about them but it worked fairly well for her when we went bowling. But now they switched to Prodigy oil and her ball hooks to much for what she can control. I was going to try polishing it up more since it looks like a solid cover. Hopefully this will help. Thanks
