Heard once it was a limited production, private label ball.

i took it in today to get drilled and decided to get it drilled with 3 oz of side weight. mainly because its an older ball with a weaker cover and i am hoping that will help compensate for that, but if it doesn't i will adjust surface

Statics will have vastly less influence on ball reaction than surface will. Like 70% to 2%

Statics work best with a pancake core which seeing as you love gems (gems rule) are easier to find in past balls.  Any of the old u-dots would be awesome to try that especially if you can find wood lanes.  Let us know how this one rolls though as it does look nice.  As you say probably can't hurt as long as not tracking over holes.

used it in league on Friday and threw it in practice and it rolled pretty good. around the second game i had a 7 pin so i figured if i slowed it down a little it might be able to make it over (i usually throw a slower shot with a lot of revs and let the ball roll into the 7). so i threw it out over 10 and i thought it wasn't going to make it and that ball just flipped like a fat cat on a seesaw with a gorilla on the other side! it missed the 7 cause it went in the gutter before it got there. so the lesson is don't underestimate old balls. i will post a picture of the layout if anyone is interested
