Title: Crimson Red Sledgehammer still a beaut!
Post by: LuckyLefty on May 07, 2004, 09:58:52 AM
Yesterday after a miserable game to start league!

I switched to the old Crimson Red Sledgehammer drilled with the cg out.

I went from where's the pocket to how can I miss the pocket!!!

This ball is still going!!!!!  And going!!!!  Over 2000 games on it!!!!
I may have been near high in league for last two games in a league where lefties have basically packed up and left on this overreactive backend shot!

REgards,

Oh, PS I've got another one in a box ready to be drilled closer to stacked!
Then I'll have two of this beaut on the lanes!

Well original out of the box was 500 grit!  But it seemed to shine up with use.

Also hits better on many conditions as it shines up.

I often sand to 1000 or 1500 on balls like this and polish.

Back when I saw more head oil on left I sanded to 600 and then used Hook it!

Ummmmm, Mmmmmm!

Then it really died and I Sledgehammer souffled it a couple of times.

Hooking like a lot again, but very smooth(that's the drilling(hook/set).

I have had one's near stacked and they did not do much for me!  Others say it is very snappy.  I found that with the Hammer 4D reactive it's first cousin!

I have it shined, and it hits very hard. It revs up pretty fast, but I found out that I have to play more down and in to get the ball to recover hard in the backend. It rolls too much to play a swing shot, unless you are Robert Smith. All in all, I'm glad Lucky Lefty and g_thing convinced me to keep the ball. Thanks guys!

Burgundy pad is 320.  Stronger than box.

It will want to grab early and may be too much surface for many conditions.

Green pad = 600 is closer to a wide usage surface for that ball in the medium to medium heavy range.
