Title: Difference between the old Hammers
Post by: dougb on November 18, 2009, 01:58:56 PM
I know that Faball came out with a blue, black, burgundy, red, pink, and purple hammer.  Probably more that I don't know about.

What was the difference between each?

In order of hook from most to least
Burgundy
Purple
Blue Dull)
Red
Black
Red or blue pearl
Pink

In terms of total hook Purple and Blue were close but the purple was a little longer and stronger off the spot. There were also a few factory polished Blue hammers that were availablr off the PBA tour truck that would fit between the black and pink

I'd have to say the Blue was the one that hooked the most handled the most oil and hooked the earliest. The Burgundy actually had some length and backend. The Blue was all curve.

Thanks!  Just picked up a blue and it's quickly become my favorite ball.  No more over/under problems with this baby.

I wish I could find a 15# Pink one

I also have a blue one - and it is an amazing piece. Not outdated at all, it just does not hook sharply. But it produces enough entry angle to carry well, and since it is so hard and massive, good pocket hits make a wonderful noise

I am amazed at the carry with my blue.  I don't get the explosive messengers that reactive balls deliver, but the blue hammer absolutely crushes the pins.  Is it the solid shell?

After throwing this ball I think I'm going to pick up a Storm Natural, unless I can find some old 14 lb hammers!
